    I hope I dont have to defend myself when I tell you that-with the profiles I use-I never had anything I read here from time to time..if a profile has "raspiness" I just dont use it.Fizz I cant remove within a very short time;I dont use it.Dustbin,

    My profiles are working perfectly fine.

    But I admit that they are just a "very few" out of so many existing.Nevertheless..

    Strange enough the "fizz issue" for me is a thing of the past when I used exclusivly my beloved tube rigs (or the ones of my clients) for recordings..

    Once I have the "right profile" and removed all remaining fizz the problem is solved forever.I never had this with tube rigs where fizz appears whenever "it wants" even when there was no fizz issue at the very beginning of the recording session (hours or even a day ago) or becomes a problem because of whatever changes (temperature etc) while nothing was changed in the recording chain(tube rig,micing,pre-EQ etc)..

    Another big advantage is that now I dont need to ask myself anymore if I have "now fizz" because of any of these unforeseeable factors like temperature,"psychology" or whatever..I can be 100% sure that with the kemper the profile is still the same me and the client have raved about a day ago and still did two hours ago while we were eating at the indian fast food shop..the crucial "taking the guitar and playing the first chord" after a few hours (after lunch,drinking,laughing,argueing about song parts,hearing asian muzak,getting your @@ squeezed over your phone by the beloved voice of your angy girlfriend which "did not see you for two days" etc,etc..you name it)-moment does not play this big role anymore.

    This is maybe the biggest plus for the kemper when it comes to the fizz-issue:Once you have "killed the fizz" with a certain profile it stays dead and does not become a fu@@ing zombie.

    Something even the hardest tube-rig deciple must admit(though he will never mention it).. :whistling:

    @Verminante

    Well yes.Sooner or later I will torture the world with my experiments.I am still searching for the right musicians to get the "right mix"..while I found the "traditional" ones with an open mind it is somewhat difficult to find me the "rockers"(most of all a drummer) who understand what it is all about..

    Is it not funny and strange that guys who play Mike Portnoy-stuff with closed eyes cant understand some basic 7/8 & 9/8 grooves; :D

    Years ago I did this song with a student..dont have a guitar with me right now but as far as I remember this song changes in most of its parts from the minor (aeolian) to the dorian mode..so from 2-3/5-6 with the first chords to 2-3/6-7 with the last chords.Frank is right..this would make Dm to a Am(for D-dorian) scale BUT!! played in the key of D.As far as I remember the song changes than(starting in the key of Am to the keys of Dm (bridge;) and Em(chorus)..not 100% sure though.have to look into this again.

    In the case I remember correctly (and it is all about aeolian/dorian)you have to play the following scales for "turning" the minor scales into dorian in the keys A,D & E

    Em scale for A-Dorian
    Am scale for D-Dorian
    Bm scale for E-Dorian

    As I said..you need to stay and "end up" in the right key..which is A in the verse and D/E for bridge/chorus.

    Adjust the harmonizer according to the "above information" and it should sound not bad at all.. ;)

    @Verminante

    Man I love this very much.

    I use the kemper also for some ethno-influenced stuff (using several pitch/harmonizers/octavers at once together with overdrive) to make it sound like some double string instruments(oud/bouzouki/lute etc) on crack..still working on it.. :/:D

    I use an acoustic profile(while playing a strat) from a baldringer-preamp.Works also nice with some OD/Boost/Dist-pedals.

    I never was a OD/Dist-pedal guy..actually there were only two pedals I used back in the late 80s/early 90s--the Daniel D.-booster from Reussenzehn(only for a short period of time)..and a fantastic MXR Microamp built in the early 80s(I guess).

    I miss the latter a lot.The only pedal I ever used which kept my 2204 "open" and "airy" while it pushed it hard in the upper mids to sound very (very) mean while overdriven.I did not look if this pedal was mentioned here but as I said..I miss this pedal a lot.More than any Ts9 or Klon or fuzz or whatever.It even fitted very well to EL84 amps..made them sound a little bit more "agressive" while the "sweetness" was kept.

    But all of the bands you mention got their contract/albums/tours..

    One of my friends in germany played with birth control.I even think they are still active;

    I take the responsibilty for taking this thread off topic and I gladly do this..if mods decide this is going to far..

    The reason modern pop music sounds so similar is because it was all written by the same small group of writers.

    Well..who should "do it" else;There are no others..these guys are the only ones today who really can "tailor the dress" according to what the "promoted artist" needs..because this artist cant do it her/himself anymore.

    These "few songwriters" have talent and musical education but they sell it for a few bucks(or more than a few) to anyone today.The consequence is that we just diont have "great albums" anymore with 5-7 really great songs,so different in style but all of these songs have the personal stamp/the style of the artists of the group.
    You just dont have this anymore.There is no courage,no knowledge and most of all obviously "no huge market" for this anymore..because it is to demanding..

    popular music, movies and literature, News have mixed with entertainment that for the most part are selling / promoting sex, crappy music and deteriorated literature (if you can even call it that),

    There is a lot of great stuff out there.But obviously it gets not enough "likes"..

    Sure there will be some groups out there today who do great stuff against all the BS.And if they stay together for a longer time maybe we will hear from them.

    But this is not the issue.The issue is that there is no "filter" which helps really good music out there.Technology should have already helped us to have these filters.Musicians from various styles all over the internet should have already networks which help talented musicians and bands to get easier to the surface against the ocean of bullshit which is overwhelming us for years.But obviously this is yet not the case.

    We musicians (and specially the ones in my generation) are to blame for this.Sure this is not the fault of technology.

    @michael

    We have to go with what we know.At least I do so.I know that there are not many young bands that unite terrific songwriting,breathtaking virtousity (both of these also based on musical knowledge),the lust for experiments(taking new musical influences form other parts of the world/roots-music) and the right use of technology.We had many(really a lot) of these bands in the 60s,70s & 80s..most of the bands who try to do this today were either formed at least 20 years ago or do not unite all these things I wrote above..so eiter they are good songwriters or lest say very good virtousos..most of these younger guys just sound as some of the older bands only not so good.

    Though I searched I still wait for a young band in their 20s to give me something like "immigrant song" or "lazy" or "tom sawyer" gives me still today after decades..goose bumps..but it is just not there.I guess that most of us will agree on this.

    Meeting with young musicians during the last years from all over europe(and many americans) I observed a huge insufficiency ie music theory and how to use this little amount of theory some have in the right way to make it "music".

    But all of them were champs ie "new technologies",DAW and fx.

    A humans lifespan is not tht big doin "everything" dear friend.Spending most of our time learning "tricks" is the wrong way.I strongly believe that most of the time we have as musicians should be spent for doing our homework.I made the example above with the guys in the late 80s and their H3000..

    No technology will save us if we dont know music.This is a truth.Nothing I or any other "old fart" invented in their whining & desperation about the "good ol´days"..

    Yeah, multitrack tape machines really caused people to become sloppy too...

    Well,this is a little extreme interpretation of what I said.But again maybe it fits into the extremes we are livin since some 15-20 years..more(much more) bass,much more loudness,much more agressiveness..one can call this "development"..I do not,sorry..
    ;)

    ps
    Saying that technology is not as important as love,heart,soul,inspiration is not saying that technology is not important.I just wanted to say this again since you obviously missed that part.Peace!

    In the past you might have had a few fantastic hi-fidelity pristine recordings that stand out, e.g. in the 50's the Buddy Holly recordings sound as clean and in your face as any modern recording, as do several classical recordings from the era, but the vast majority of other recordings were really patchy. Over time things became more polished and consistency rose a little but you can hear two obvious shifts in consistency, the first is in the 80's when digital gear became really popular, a lot of tracks from then were capable of producing the same sounds, so they did, then in the mid to late 90's and early 2000's when finally DAW's became much more mainstream not just as a controller for the tape machine but to actually record with as HDD's dropped in price and convertors improved. Suddenly all records got the same "sheen" on them, everyone had access to autotine, everyone had access to all the plugins.

    Instead to develop the music the only thing "developed" during the same period of time (late 80s to 90s till today) was technology.Simple example the guys who wanted (late 80s)t to sound "like steve vai" but did not knew about how to programme their H3000 to get the mixolydian/lydian scales-hamonies right..

    Instead to use modern technology to learn more about the roots & rules of music(there are not even really many good youtubes about how to actually use modes in rock music) modern technology and ofcourse most of all processors of all kind (in computers/DAW and effects) have become an end in themselves..and many people think that "better UI" will help them to make better music while super UI without musical knowlwedge will only help to end up faster running against the wall and being frustrated..sounding always the same as any other guy who tries the same stunt out there..myriads..

    Music was always first about the things many guys with their UIs are laughing about:Heart,Soul,practicing,musical education.Technology comes much,much later..

    I just want more time in the day to explore all the great things it does now that I have not even used yet!

    This

    I also have the feeling that I need more time to use the profiler to its full potential.
    Something I never missed with tube amps..
    ;)

    Computers did not help creating better music during the last 20 years.Maybe they helped to do the opposite.Funny stuff..anyway..

    Yea mate..every time I upload some pictures I wonder that I post the right ones and not "some other pictures"(if you know what I mean..)..I am a complete dummy ie computers man..
