    @MonkeyMan

    Man..sad to hear about your long term injury..

    Sorry for the question:Have you ever been to a specialist;I mean there are some specialists arm-hand-finger medics/surgeons out there.You should have no problem to find even one which is a specialist for musicians.
    Sure you have been already but I just want to be sure.If not..these guys can help!

    As for the frets..sure high frets/scalloped will help but I believe strongly that you need to "build up strenght" again with your hands.

    Two songs,part of my life:"Free falling" with18.."Into the great wide open.." with 20..intense memories..

    RIP to another giant gone.

    Did not want to chime in again but...

    Who said that he does not need an editor;

    99% of the participants in this thread have clearly declared that they would like to have an editor.

    Only because most of us dont take hostages (like this whole forum) or announce our forthcoming suicide (like selling the kpa,getting L6 stuff) does not mean that we dont like everything which could make things easier.

    @Dimi

    Hope to make this my last post on this matter..

    Personally I never said that the Axe is "shit"(who did btw;)..actually I believe that it is the best modeler when it comes to create "rigs from the scratch" and to tweak yourself to oblivion.I am fine with that.

    That being said I just stated the obvious:Most famous players (who made the leap to digital) use the profiler.And only if it is to profile their whole beloved tube amp rig collection.It is also obvious that "most" or at least "many" pros use the Axe mainly for fx.Even more obvious NO big name is using helix which again is the fav for the "normal guy from the street" (whatever this means).

    Greetings

    Personally I didn't see the point of an editor before delay update

    Alright.This is an elephant in the room (next to the amp :D ) most of the people "demanding" the editor for some reason just cant see..

    Kemper won the battle (winning the pros) but is loosing the war to L6 in matters of selling units in general.Now with L6 going strong to take shares from all the plug-in-amps and sims things will get even more difficult ie market shares.

    Quote from Sharry

    A development that certainly changed the music industry drastically but is not likely to be so relevant for niche product manufacturers.
    Why plunge into a confusing array of manufacturers who are currently coming and going on the market, where innovations compete with each other almost every day?

    Exactly.And Kemper would be crazy not to think about where to put themselves in this huge,confusing market.Now add to all these older start ups from silicon valley from the last few years the next wave which will come from china etc..plug ins and sims for a single $.. :/ Good luck to all the guys from bias etc..

    Another thing I say again and again:The Kemper is no "sculpturing" your amp from the scratch machine.If you "copy" your amp you will not need a thousands of parameters after the profiling.Just a few.This is a big difference to all the other modelers and again..Kemper would be crazy not to "demand" that there is this difference and who ever buys this product should have at least the will to grasp this difference..not saying that they try this through "denying the editor" but as engineers you have the resposibility to make your customers understand what to expect.And what not.You dont need "announcements" for this.Just a look into the manual would be sufficient.

    At the end..

    A musician must love his instrument.The germans have a nice saying "Kunst kommt von Können" meaning the linguistic root of "art" is comming from "ability"..which means you have to sit down on your butt and practise for years.The opposite of "being convenient"(yes @Dimi,talking to you)..in many ancient languages the word "musical instrument" is deriving from "organ"..like the organs of our body.In our ancient european heritage "music" derives form the "muses" and the instrument to play music were (and are still called) "mousiko organo" which I would translate with "body part of the muses"..Let us not forget that we talk about music here.Something only comparable to basic biological/psychological basic instincts (and therefore "needs") like food,sex etc..

    Since we talked in this forum about "tonewoods" and how much better any other material would be as replacement..or "this is 2017 and IT is the future" let us not forget that we had this some 20-30 years ago.
    We had (and still have) Parker,Steinberg,Roland..graphite and many other materials comming and going.We had "Midi" and "Racks" with Bob Bradshaw and all the other guys.All gone.USB will be gone too.Rather sooner than later.Next!Vintage marshalls,Fenders and Vox will stay..we have a huge "vintage market" where you pay millions for 54´ Strats and 59´LesPauls..armies of guitar players ordering "their" Clapton,SRV or Gilmour strats at the Fender CS or as partscaster from warmoth etc..spending weeks and months getting the colour of the tinted neck finish right to be the "same" like the one on the picture taken from some legendary pink flyod cover or live concert some 40-50 years ago..

    All that being said..I also wait for an editor for using the nice delays we have now.I dont use them now because the lack of an editor.. ;)

    Quote

    And in that realm there are plenty of people who think some tonal sacrifice is worth it.. much like quite a few who use kemper in the first place instead of their amps. I would not use kemper or axe fx if not for that. "Meaningfully better" -- I mean better enough to make a real difference in the "life of a musician". A difference big enough to talk about and value.

    This is always something which drives me crazy..

    Micing a tube amp is how much "tonal sacrifice" in your opinion dear @Dimi;Just curious.Speaking about "value" we maybe should first get this thing (difference between ampintheroom and miced amp) clear;

    There are a lot of things still to be learned about how to use the KPA really successfully..the editor should be the last thing players who have not enough experience with micing an amp live/recording should worry about.

    Anyway,greetings

    There are other units that sound great. It's not just kemper. So it's not like people don't have other choices. Pretty easy to show how close different units can get, with proper testing (testing that is rarely done, imo, but anyway).

    Phile mou..I often miss in your posts the famous "IMO"..

    Seeing the % of pros using the units in question one can easily see what sounds "better" and not just by a slight degree.

    The one product (in this case the KPA) is choosen cause of its amp sounds.

    The other product (you know which one) will be choosen (mostly) because of its fx.

    And finally the third product is NOT choosen at all by "famous players" (or can you name me one;) despite the fact that the producer of this product has the most well known name and the (by far) biggest budget.

    Any chance to twist these facts;

    Not in my book..

    Quote

    That said, even if many think kemper nonetheless sounds meaningfully better than all other units, which is a perfectly respectable view too, even then there are plenty-a-case where convenience is why they use kemper to begin with. If it wasn't for convenience they'd be using real amps to begin with. Plenty of people like that on this forum as well, if not most.

    I dont understand what you want to say..sorry..

    If a music instrument sounds "better" even the "meaningfully" is not needed.It sounds better.End of story.
    The ONLY and SOLE reason a musician even considers to choose his tool which than becomes part of his "life"..I mean it starts to get a "soul" which means again that it stops to be a tool.It is at least an "instrument with some soul"..like we have now for decades with all the mythical intruments with "soul" like pre-cbs fenders,59´ LesPauls and "vintage tube amps" or even "tube amps" in general.

    Out of all the "digital tools" we have right now the profiler is going straight for the "only digital tool which may become an intstrument" because according of all players using it even the most well known big names claim that it "steals the soul" of their mythical tube amps.

    This is no small achievement dear Dimi..

    Ofcourse this has a price.

    Right now it is that the kemper guys dont have either the time to develop an editor or (for me) the better reason;It does not fit into their philosophy of how to sell their product.As a digital tool or a music instrument which resists the "tides of time"..

    @pamplemousse

    Ofcourse someone with a strong character can remain silent IF he knows what to do against all common "sense" and pressure to do different.Is it not funny that most people on earth run into cinema watching movies about "heroes" doing things they believe they can do only "their way" against the rest of the world;The wife is leaving..friends are turning against them..but they just dont change..we love this stuff,no;I guess this is like this because in real life things are very much the opposite.Being someone with a strong vision,keeping direction despite all odds and non-sense with the strong believe to do someting because it is the only way to do it ends up mostly being...jobless @ broke; :/

    Maybe the Kemper-guys are just stubborn guys who dont like anyone from outside to change their philosophy or to value their product on another issue than how good it sounds;Even if a dozen guys appear in their blog and tell them that they will sell the profiler to get themselves a shitty sounding other box only because of its UI and shiny scrible strips..

    Now..that would be cool..wouldnt it;
    ;)

    This thread..this thread..this thread...Did I already said "this thread";

    Sorry to quote myself but this is getting annoying.Kemper got the message.A long time ago.Anyone here who doubts that;

    Last big update was almost one year ago.Wait a few more days/weeks..I dont know.The next big upgrade is comming soon.New reverbs,more delays,editor..enough to tweak for the rest of our lives,keeping us away from just playing more rocknroll.

    In the meanwhile I will use the profiler as @CK always and from the beginning of his vision wanted us to use it.As many(many,many) tube amps in a single box.Great "journey".And best sounding stuff out there when it comes to miced tube rigs..Live-ready,best tool in the studio.Easy to use.First and most of all THIS..nothing more nothing less.At least not all at once.

    Have mercy with a few guys sitting in a small laboratory trying to do work for a whole army of engineers.

    greetings

    I have no problem with cars getting bigger.I dont like that they look all the same now..it is like just one SUV out there..and I mean everywhere.. :/

    But lets talk about cabs.It is a drama.I made a search yesterday evening and "all is gone".. ;(

    Mesa has a 4x10 in their programme (great to see this) but other than that there are only a very few cabinet makers like Zilla who offer closed 4x10 cabs for guitar amps..but you have to order them..

    One further (and not to small) piece of historic rock guitar sound is going down the drain.I know there are many 4x10 combos still out there but their share is also shrinking from what I can see (seeing thomann,sweetwater etc )..it is all about 1x & 2x12..

    Dont get me wrong I love 4x12 and also 2x12 (1x12 not so much) in all closed and half/open variations but a closed 4x10 has a special sound for blues/rock/hardrock you cant have with a 4x12.I definetly miss my 1965B I played (with my Steavens Poundcake!) for 20 years..I should have bought it from the owner when he offered it me once many years back some time in the 90s.This little cab was the most important part of my rythem sound from the late 80s on ...well..one day my buddy came and took it back.`still rejects to sell it to me.."dont know what you got untill its gone.."

    :D

    Am I completely nuts or maybe blind;

    There is nothing out there.Ofcourse some used stuff on ebay/reverb etc (ofcourse almost no 1965s) but not even orange does them anymore;What has happend to their PPCs 410;Thomann has not even one 4x10 cab listed;At least not for guitar..

    @SWASS
    I must admit that I still have to play the KPA over a guitar cab.Reading your post once again makes me very curious..

    Another thing which I would like to try is to get me some new A/B-Box(I dont even know where my REUSSENZEHN-A/B is..lost it some years ago) and to use the KPA/FRFR combo on "the right" and a tube rig "on the left"..

    I guess this would be the "ultimate test" for my Kemper(and the very last since I am almost completely convinced of this rocknroll machine).

    On the one side a RevF with vintage orange 4x12 (no fx) and on the other this Kemper/FRFR-universe..

    Some day I have to do this..some day..

    @lightbox

    Thanks for your tip mate..great gear indeed but it is "to big"..I look for "small desktop size" like the FMR stuff or the porticos/APIs512c etc..just small enough to fit into a bag for take it with me in a middle size travel bag..

    @Raoul

    This is bad."Noisy" is indeed bad.Thank you for the heads up.My fav is still the 5017.Still open for suggestions though..

    Yes it is funny is it not; :D

    I cant do different..dont know why..

    The best reason is most likely the way I am used to listen to vocals..I always loved Kate Bush when I was a kid .And (please dont laugh) Coverdale.. 8| ..yes..his very first solo-albums (whitesnake/snakebite/northwinds etc untill come & get it)..so bluesy,so expressive..breaths,tongue..same with paul rodgers..actually it is all my olders brother fault who did hear a lot of great music during the late 70s/early 80s..

    I have the impression that that I just cant record vocals without compression.There are a lot of nice things happening in the loungs and mouths of a singer and if a singer knows how to control these.. things can get very interesting..This is not very "professional" but I give a fu@@ about this.Most singers I worked with liked my approach so..

    A lot of stuff has appeared since 2010,so many options right now.

    I would still need something for a little bit of compression (I will record mostly vocals and nylon/steel string acoustrical instruments)..things would become "to big" and to heavy..

    What do you think about the 5017;I dont see you enthusiastic about this pre.. :/

    But it is "almost" two channel and has a comp..all in one..small/3kilos..
