I prefer DI profiles with a real cab by far.
The hi gain profiles sound much more realistic, articulated and clear.
I tried DXR10, Friedman ASM12, JBLEON112. All sounded good but not awesome with hi gain profiles.
Now I use a kemper with a Camplifier 290 and SOLDANO 2x12 open cab with eminence legend. After millions of combinations this is my winner!!! -

You aren't totally out of luck. I have the Camplifier 290 in my Kemper and it works fantastic. I run it in 180 watt bridged mono mode. I have powered a 4x12 previously and currently am using a 2x12 cabinet. It is plenty loud.

The Camplifier 290 is awesome. I'm using a 2x12 soldano cabinet with Eminence Legends and I'm getting the best tones since I bought my kemper 2 years ago. -
are you sure 'Monitor Cab Off' isn't checked in the OUTPUT menu?
Yes! of course!

Yep. At the end of the day, if it sounds good to you, it is good.
However, your description is a bit confusing / vague.I am not sure which of the following you mean:
a) Are you saying that you have your KPA connected to an actual (physical) Marshall model 1960 Cabinet, and have the KPA's Cabinet module active (on). In which case, what cabinet profile is loaded on the KPA? I presume you must have some external power amp, if you are using your KPA's monitor output jack.
-or-
b) Are you saying you that you are using your KPA's cab module (which you have active), and that particular cabinet profile is a Marshall model 1960...which you are then connecting to a physical guitar cabinet. If that is what you mean, what is the make/model of your physical guitar cabinet?
I am only asking because I am interested in what your particular mix/match is in your scenario...i.e., what is the KPA Cabinet Profile, and what is the actual physical guitar cabinet. Again, I can't quite tell from your original post. It could be read in either way.
In any event, I have had a similar experience. Normally, I connect my KPA PowerRack to a passive XiTone 1x12 FRFR wedge. However, every now and then, when I am away from my place, I sometimes have to connect to a traditional guitar cabinet. Recently, I was over a friend's, and I used his Tech 21 PE60, which is a powered guitar cabinet that employs a Celestion Seventy/80 speaker. In this case, I just turn off my KPA's power amp, and connect to the PE60 via the Monitor Out. Now, normally in this scenario, I would be playing with the Cab module deactivated. However, for kicks and giggles, I decided to experiment with activating the KPA's Cab module, and auditioning some different cabinets that I have stored as presets. Most of the time, the results were pretty awful...actually, unusable. However, every once in awhile I stumbled upon a virtual Cabinet that actually sounded really quite good, when played through the Tech 21 PE60. If memory serves, it happened to be an Ampeg SVT cab profile (which is a 15" bass guitar cabinet). Weird.
Cheers,
JohnWell, case "a".
I have a Kemper profiler with an "Camplifier" installed. I run my kemper powered by camplifier with my cabinet Marshall 1960A (real) and turn off the cab emulation.Sorry for my english...
I use a Mesa Rectifier 2x12 by Sinmix in the CAB section.
And, with this configuration, it sounds very very good.

Ey! wait! What is this?
I'm using a 1960 cab through the monitor output and this sound awesome with "cab sim" ON!
O_O
I think this was a sin but NO! this sound really good. -
It's a profile based on a free profile created by user NALICK. (thank you NALICK).
I just tuned it a bit, effects, cab (by sinmix), etc...
Here it is:

I'm not sure if this issue depends of the ear fatigue or it's a real problem....
I have days that I love all my profiles and there are days that all my profiles sound trebly to my ears.....
I'm pretty sure that the hi gain profiles sound in that way when you pass a gain limit...... -
Use "space" in output section to sound good through headphone.
-
I sold my DXR10 for that reason.
I think the plastic causes this boxy sound. The Friedman ASM12 doesn´t sound boxy because is wood but has other "problems"..(very directional and "in your face" sound")... it's very difficult to find the perfect monitor....What I do is to run one Friedman ASM12 and one JBL EON612. this is today...tomorrow I don't know... -
-
The same here.
-
Yes, this is the same from monitor output than main output.
Now I'm using an ASM-12 and a DXR10 in stereo.Again, it is a very subtle change, a little more gain with the FCB1010 disconected. Not a big problem, anyway.
-
Yes, post effects position does the same.
And yes, all the rigs.
This is very subtle difference, thats true.
Disconecting expresion pedals from rig configuration fix the problem. -

The expresion pedals calibrated. And the tone suck persist.

I've observed my tone loses a bit of gain or gets colored (a bit) tone with the FCB1010 connected. (volume pedal maxed and configured "post stomps").
Can someone try this?: set a hi gain profile, play some chords and palm muted riffs, disconect FCB and play it again. Are you getting the same tone loss than me?PD: sorry for my english...
