You might even consider a Line-6 PowerCab +. I have a pair and run both the Kemper and Helix into them, and it sounds wonderful. Plus this is not a one trick pony, as you can dial in "many" nice sounding speaker simulations manually, or controlled by midi/L6-Link.

The only reason I dreaded getting this thing is because I knew this would happen (OCD LOL).
I found that when I do this (I have OCD bad too) if I save 2 different tones, then pick the better one in a couple of days to my ears, that helps.

If I didn't already have the rack KPA and floor controller and if I had just won the lotto and was building that dream studio, a "Stage" would be on the pallet with all my other new gear waiting for construction to finish. Love the look of it!!!

Wampler makes some really "really" good pedals! I have a Dual Fusion and Ego Compressor that sounds just Killer.
Haven't tried the Paisley yet but would like to. Oh yea- the Morgan AC20 profile is very nice too!

My needs are simple. I just want to play along to backing tracks late at night, and have some inspiring tone along with it. Doesn't seem all that simple apparently.
Maybe its time for a hearing test? No Im not trying to be mean, you see "I" suffer from hearing loss as well (high end is gone) and without help all voices, music, hell everything sounds dull and lifeless. Go to an Ear nose and throat specialist, it could be just a chunk of wax. Or it could be time for hearing aids. Best of luck.

Do we have a ballpark on which drives might be added?

Jamstix is great too with its different Drummers and styles

ToonTrack SD3, fxPansion BFD 3, XLN Audio - SSD5 (Steven Slate) are all Good choices, but my choice if I had to pick just one I believe would be Superior Drummer 3. And yes you can go into song mode by picking a pattern, insert it into the slot and SD3 then creates a song for you with 4 or 5 variations for intro, verse, chorus, bridge, and endings!
