Demo's sound fantastic, euro to $ makes it a bit painful though It went to number 1 on the wish list!

I like the you seemed to leave in more of the low end/fullness of the amp on gain-ier profiles. Thanks!
-
What is your overall opinion of the amp, as compared to others in its class/price range?

Speaker
then long time nothing
SuhrOX not so great - same as I found when I cheched the OX here in my studio.
The clips i've heard with Ox on lower gain amps and clean sound pretty good (at least as good as IR's)..but not convinced or haven't heard enough on high gain yet.

I use a Whirlwind EDB1 Direct Box set on -20dB PAD connected to the speaker out of the amp head I'm profiling into a 2X12 Friedman with V 30s.It works very well for me.
Interesting, i was using a "Livewire" Direct Box also with -20db pad, but i get a massively weird midrange sound, profiling a Synergy Tube Preamp through a Fryette Power Station. The only head i have with a lot of gain is a Peavey XXX but i've read it can't be profiled properly because of some anti-noise circuitry that messes with the Kemper tones.

Thanks hope to try it out soon!

Saw this one, ironically (or obviously maybe)...i thought the real speaker sounded best. Then it was hard to guage in the mix...on a quick listen i kind of preferred the PS2 after that and the ox wasn't too high in the list. Would like to hear more and of course try the rest myself

Yeah. I tried 3 in a row. I thought these would be the easy ones. I wonder how people are making these. Now I know why Michael Britt doesn’t release any.
-
Thats with a DI and a bogner 1x12 attached, not the Reactive load output. With the reactive load i get the exploding speaker sound.
-
I haven't tried that yet, but with IR's that never sounded very good to me. The Fryette will use the reactive load if you take the speaker out to the amp in on the back, he explains it here ( https://youtu.be/PTorwKzwzO0 )
Now i'm just having issues getting the sound right with my DI box.
I'm still getting extreme wah like sounds...this is recorded a bit too hot, but you get the idea. The first half is the profile, the second is direct (no cab so these sound fizzy i know but the problem is still obvious). Not sure what i'm doing wrong, thanks!

I am afraid that you don't utilize the reactive load this way, as this would only work with a power amp connected to the Amp In.Have you tried to profile your preamp alone?
-
how do you do your DI profiles, what DI box/setup? Thanks!
-
What is considered stoner rock? Not familiar with this amp..
-
While the DI box seemed to stop the exploding speakers, all of my profiles that are mid gain or higher have a really strange midrange sound like a wah pedal stuck on, i've tried refining a couple of times. Any idea what else to try?
THanks.

I asked about Paypal as I wanted to give HW something for his efforts
Just buy some of their profiles win-win

What makes the OX a bit different is that in addition to simulating 2 mics, it adds room mic'ing which uses UA's dynamic room modeling. It's a niche product, but from what I've heard thus far, it sounds pretty amazing. In my opinion, it's a bit overpriced though.
Depends on what you're comparing it to...it's sort of marketed to go against the Two Notes Studio (though there are already complaints the Ox is limited in it's sampling rate compared to it) which is around $1800. The other big complaint with the Ox right now is there is no V30 4x12, and they've not said they were going to come out with more. To me it seems like a marketing opportunity to start selling more cabs, more fx (modeling all kinds of guitar effects as well). It will kind of suck for UAD users if you have to pay twice for plugins (one for Ox, one for Apollo)...so hopefully it doesn't go that way. It's not really a Kemper competitor for most people, unless you have a lot of your own tube amps and mostly record...which is pretty much all i use the kemper for (practice/recording).
-
Mine arrived today...I still love Kemper and will still use it for flydates...but not for recording anymore.
GTR > Diezel VH4 > OX > CLR ii
Wowzers...
And don't even get me started on what Badcat Blackcat was like...
Absolutely stunning!
Any samples? I've been pondering the idea of switching to the Ox with Amps as well. Would lose recalling tones, amps i dont have (don't use the fx that much with my pedals)...longshot but if i sold my Kemper and my Fryette Power Station i might be able to get the Ox and one more nice amp with not much more to spend....hmm, choices.
I found recording with the PS2-> though IRs challenging to get a heavy tone as well as a challenge to monitor in real time. The Kemper has some different things i don't like...but i'd probably also find some compromises with the Ox, so who knows.
I wish UAD would create a plugin version i could use with an existing Reactive Load.
-
When i had the issue on this post (with the Power Station 2's reactive load) i did make multiple attempts to capture it so that must not be the issue i had, the Kemper just doesn't see the reactive load properly i guess. I have yet to have time to investigate my current issues with the DI box i got (not the Kemper one)...which was feedback on high gain amps...even with no guitar plugged in and the cocked wah tone on the mid gain tone.
When i change the return input there seemed to be no perceived volume change when changing it...is that normal on DI profiles or did i possibly have something set wrong?
-
Thanks will give it a try!

Are you using the XLR return on the Kemper? If so try using the 1/4" return.
i'm just using a standard mic cable...what would the difference be, or were you just checking to make sure there wasn't an actual issue with my Kemper?
