Every Time I got to the OUTPUT or INPUT section I get stuck in there, I want to get the rig browser back up on profiler LCD. It's not a problem because I just use the rig manager to change rigs anyway, but I need to use the kemper without the Rig Manager at times.

Some of the stuff is well thought out, but some of the UI is garbage.. For now I just a/b from Tuner to Browser to bring my current rig back up.

kind of what I thought, many of the Full Range stuff has been powered so guys with Kemper and Fractal could use it. So the box is basically tweaked to fit well with Kemper IRs. I've read some folks saying it's "too bright" where other guys simply retorted they needed to adjust the bottom end on the Kemper to dial it in.

Hopefully I get some amp in room feel while I record direct.. if I'm even 90% of a real amp that would be great. Kab is on the way.

seemed to rolling into the SPDIF inputs on my UAD and it stopped working? in the mean time I'm just sing the main out left thru my UAD front HiZ input. I'm also noticing some real volume diff rig to rig.. and rig to UAD.. bit more complicated than I thought it would be. I've been using the my UAD Marshall sims for scratch tracks to avoid the headaches.

    2 QUESTIONS?

-How can I hear the spidf thru my UAD like I had been doing?

-If I use spidf on UAD that means I'll miss the Unison gain staging that you only get on channels 1/2?

    TIV.

so is it pretty seemless.. you are ripping a solo and the STOMP to a cleanb Bridge part?

Do you have to normalize volume between rigs somehow for performances? Thanks In advance.-sg

have not bot my Kemper yet (probably when back from a trip I'm taking). A lot of guys love hands-on devices, ie tweaking knobs and equipment they can hold.. I'm just the opposite. I prefer a mouse, 2 monitors and pure DAW format. How close is Kemper to being totally usable without messing with the device??.. and if it is not there yet, do you guys envision the device getting to a point with software control standpoint? I can't stand nested menu's and all these "simple" devices where everything is 5 levels deep.. at the worse I would like one knob for each function (that seems to be where the device is..)

Here is where I hope Kemper is at..

profiling.. you are profiling analog style so you need your cables and mic's for total profile, or at least your cables for a pre-amp profile...a this point I would like to be done with the device.. with "locking" and saving on the machine..

*it sounds like I can cut/drop/copy/paste/preview rigs between rig manager and the device?

*can I somehow site and drop rigs with effects right into the 5 performance slots.. if so is this easy and intuitive? Going thru nested LCD menus on the remote switch screams "1993" to me

*if my buddy profiles his new Orange Amp he can email over.. or at the very least give me google drive or dropbox access to get a copy (or he can just share it with the whole world on rig manager)

What are the limitations.. eventually is there a whole virtual connection the the rig.. will I be able to tweak parameters (if I can't already) via a software clone while I'm connected via USB.. is there WIFI capability on the device. is it coming? As cool as this devices seems it seems to be a bit "dinosaurish" conceptually.

Trusted sources have told me this is there best music purchase and 15+ years, and I want to feel the same way. I don't recall ever putting 15+ hourse into something I haven't even purchase yet.. but yea I'm that guy.. the guy who.. looks at amps.. then compares the number of preamp and power amp tubes to the other 3 models that I might buy. The guy that lists his midi files in different ways so the are searchable for different projects.. I probably learn 10 minutes of ever 15 seconds of music I actually track. It's tough being a songwriter/guitar player/producer/engineer/social marketer.. but that's what it seems to take these days. This device should really speed up my process.. I won' t have to re-mic and take snapshots of settings for projects when I go back to fix or overdub.. and my wife will stop throwing tantrums when I get my amps up past 1.5 on the volume knob, as I'll full out good amp sounds at headphone volumes.

my other dilema is space. the rack mount could sit right under my monitor shelf even with the keyboard.. the lunchbox takes up a lot more room.. the rack doesn't have LED around the knobs.. powered or unpowered (I think I'll go un powered, I can just run it thru my effects loop or buy a powered monitor)-sg

I simply hate using devices.... I bot a Zoom rig for ideas once, and after rolling thru nested menu's with dials I sold it and went right back to the DAW for everything.

In the future I would hope that Kemper would create software to tweak every part of the process.. ie modeling, tweaking, copy/pasting presets to the machine. so you could work via software and not have to use the machine.. how close are they to this? Thanks-sg

a nube thought.. still deciding to buy the rack or lunchbox.. in the meantime reading, watching and absorbing.

I downloaded rig manager, and based on some of the profile detail info (the right side profile notes) ... it seems guys are profiles, tweaking them and then putting them on rig manager. For instance one guy had a 5150 profile that appeared to have originated from Top Jimmy (sp?) yet he was claiming/sharing the rig as the author. Whether that was a kemper issued rig or a commercial one that the author modified... I'm not sure. But what's to keep us from pooling money, buying packs, and then being "Robin Hood" to everybody else who owns a Kemper. Or on a more logical point why can't I just trade purchased profiles via dropbox or google drive.. are they encrypted in some way? Thanks in advance.-sg

thinking of getting the remote.. can save performances from rig manager or do I have to go into the remote and use the buttons/controller.. ie I would like to just drop and drag profiles into the performance 1-5 button slots (much better with software vs. manual button process) Thanks in advance.-sg

    LOL

If this is the case, point 1. and 3. of your list will do the job :D

But you might be surprised by how the Profiler can tame any amp and make something new out of it ;)

--maybe it can make my amp useable LOL.

I kept the VHT for the Clean Tones.. it is the most brutally honest amp I've ever played... and you need to get it up past 3 till it will forgive you a bit.. a total dud at <2. The thing is BRUTALLY loud. I was jamming with a buddy and cranked to 3.5 and he almost fell off is stool when I drilled a chord.

Anytime I'm feeling good as a player I simply plug back into the VHT to bring myself back down to earth LOL. It cuts thru a mix, but on a bad day it makes u sound like Little Wayne or Nick Jonas. If you ever had a song where you couldn't quite finish a riff on spot every time RUN very far way from the 5012. <X

After 2 years of woodshedding (guided by a pro guitar player with a music degree) my playing has improved enough to play my VHT. You really have to play clean and tight on that bastard.. they should named it the "Guitar Player Hating Bastard" instead of the Pittbull. -sg

there have been times in my life when I've never had enough LOL.. my 5150 III is the first time I've ever turned down the gain.. that red channel sounds like wasps getting loose when you cut the guitar volume and just listen to the amp.. -sg

    VHT Pittbull 5012

    Am I thinking right here?

    1) Full Gain class AB
    2) full gain class AB with reverb
    3) full gain class A
    4) full gain class A w reverb

?? should I do the above at 1/3rd gain levels.. or is the Kemper flexible enough? My initial understanding is that I just did one profile, but after reading it seems people are much more detailed and don't trust the kemper as having the same sound range as the amp that they are profiling?

?? do I need to run cleans AB/A with and without reverb?

if so i would have a bit of work
    1) full gain ab, full gain ab w reverb, full gain a, full gain a with reverb
    2) half gain ab, half ain ab w reverb, half fain ab, half gain ab with reverb
    3) clean A, clean A with reverb, clean ab, clean ab with reverb

    Thanks-sg

Apologize.. I got error's while posting.. didn't think my post went thru!! Sorry.-sg

On Profiling Types (getting ready to buy Powered Profiler)

    1) profile entire RIG.. mic the cabinet (per manual)
    2) profile Premp Only (send the preamp out into the profiler?)
    3) profile Preamp with Power Amp (some type of direct box to take the speaker load?)
    4) profile a cabinet?? possible?

    Profiled Pre-Amp..
    1) direct in sound to DAW..
2)) do I put it thru a profiled Kemper Cab?
    3) cab emulation software?

    Mic's...
    1) I have sure SM57.. is that to "mid heavy" if so do I eq out some mids in my DAW?

Box.. seems as though Radial makes the best ones out there? Here is a link to the Passive/Active Direct boxes..

Tons of stuff, but I have read just enough of the manuals and watched just enough videos to be think I actually know something LOL.-sg

Just about to buy.. have been browsing forums and watching tons of videos (also reading manuals)

    So I can profile..
    1) full amp with cab and power amp (obvious)
    2) pre-amp and power amp without cab??
    3) just the pre-amp??
    4) are their cabinet profiled to line up with your preamp?

If you just have a pre-amp.. do I need softwared DAW sim cabs or do I use a Kemper profiled cab?

Project 1 will be profiling my VHT 50/12 Pitbull..

    1) I'll profile with sure SM57 thru my DAW ..

    2) will I need some type of radial box to profile preamp only/pre-amp & poweramp?
    http://www.radialeng.com/radial-products.php#

    3) also.. will I need to blend mics with a ribbon/dynamic if the Sure SM57 has too much mid.. or do I have some mid cut via the DAW on my Sure 57?

    Thanks!!-sg
