As previously mentioned, for OS X The Unarchiver does everything, quickly, cleanly and for free. Available from the App Store.

Although I've suggested it before and it got nowhere.

This seems like a no-brainer.

There is one other aspect, that gets completely lost: You guys are talking about a device that was "published/released" 6 years ago. I have never ever in my life experienced a lifespan of continued software updates and feature implementations like that for free. Most companies sell faulty products and let you pay to fix them - they call it support fee.
I would point out to you that most of the competitors have replaced their flagship product within this time period. The KPA works great and doesn't need a HW refresh. However if Kemper stopped doing bug fixes and adding features then once word got about it would surely heavily impact sales to new customers. Kemper aren't working on updates out of the goodness of their hearts only.
-
hmmm, nothing but a rumour yet.
LOL, its not even that. Kemper can't even scrape an editor together, for sure a VST isn't going to happen.
-
I'm happy with the tone of my KPA, so the bulk of my wishlist would be stuff that I think should have been included in the current hardware.
- PC/Mac Editor.
- 2in/2out USB audio interface - I've heard the argument that the KPA is a pro studio device and doesn't need it, and I still think its BS. It's usefulness when mobile/as a practice tool would be much greater with this feature.
- Midi-over-USB.
- Spring Reverb - I'm not too fussed about effects generally as I mostly use external effects. Although I think a good spring reverb is the most basic effect that could/should be included.
- Drive pedal profiling - I think this would be a great feature for future hardware where processing power allows it.
-
Cederick, I know you have recorded quite a few albums mate, if you've been having trouble getting a profile you're happy with maybe going into a studio is the way forward?
It shouldn't take an experienced engineer long to mike up your cab and get a good sound. As you know the actual profiling only takes a minute. Should it really take more than a day of studio time for one amp?
Cheers,
Lyndon.

Any reason why we can't have 'Just Guitar' as well? Some of us do play guitar as well, you know?
-
Just adding my voice to the chorus.
No doubt that Kemper did a good job with the UI of the KPA, especially given the depth of the thing.
However it would really be so much easier to tweak and edit using a full size screen and mouse. I can''t imagine a good argument against offering one, its been industry standard in similar products for LONG time.

I had some USB issues on my old Macbook Air and I sorted it by resetting the PRAM (hold command-option-p-r while starting up).
-
I'd spend some time with Garageband if I were you. It comes with some good plugins and what you learn from it will carry over if you upgrade to Logic in the future. Its a lot more capable than people give it credit for.
You could also check out Reaper which a lot of people like. It costs around $60us IIRC. I think Logic is way better value though because of all the great plugins and instruments you get with it.
-
Why include one then, if not doing so would cut costs, resources and RRP?
This isn't a POD we're talking about here. I doubt very much money was saved by not implementing USB audio. As I said before, it would have made the unit much more useful for practice and home recording. Even a professional musicians could have found it useful in a pinch.
-
I've always thought that it was a bizarre design choice for Kemper not to implement a basic 2in2out USB audio interface. It would have made the unit way more useful for practice and home recording.
Also happily using a Quad Capture here. I suspect that if there was any intention of implementing USB audio, it probably would have been included from day 1.
Cheers,
Lyndon.

Hi,
I don't know if this has been added in the beta fw or not as I'm not running it. But it would be useful to have a 'Guitar Only' browse filter in addition to the 'Bass Only' one.
Cheers,
Lyndon.

Had this a while now but as I'm new to the forum I thought I'd post it. I'm planning to drop some BKPs in it soon.

So they're releasing a MKII before the waiting list for the MKI is even cleared?
I'm guessing they have no manufacturing savvy, a very small customer base, or both.
