That's really beautiful and evokes the feeling of a kite really well. Bravo!

It comes down to compromise in my books. The choice is between an unlimited palette of amp sounds or a smaller palette of better sounds.
For me the former is the better approach based on the wide variety of music I play and the ease of use I'm after. Plus, my music has moved on from the stand and deliver lead stuff to more rhythm. Plus the Kemper sounds amazing to me and everyone that comments on it, so I'm not searching.
I totally get your approach and it must sound incredible.

I went through all of the possible options as well and determined that buying direct was the best option in the final analysis. Geographical isolation is a double edge sword. 🙂

I've never seen them at a discount on the Kemper site. I'm also in NZ and definitely don't regret the money I spent on mine. 😎
Keep in mind that shipping is free, but allow a few weeks.

I'd use a semi hollow on neck or mid pos pick up , reduce the tone and use a fender clean profile.
Most of the tone comes from the semi hollow and good usage of the guitar volume & tone pots to me. A bit of spring verb might also help.
This is almost exactly what I was going to suggest. 😎
I thought I heard a tiny bit of slapback delay in there as well, but could be the venue.

Nice! Welcome to the club!!

I've tried on dimarzio strings to have them ruined on the same day, not a fan of the tone either but that's definitely subjective. I think that kind of tone could do really well in mixing it was a lot less brighter than the EBs. At least there was less of a difference between the strings NEW and the strings ruined after some playing.
what's your experience with other strings? I tried elixirs, the sound is okay. Definitely better than most of the strings you can buy, but I don't remember them lasting me enough to warrant paying 3x the amount of what slinkies are worth.
Yeah, I don't particularly care about the twang necessarily, because I still consider them playable and you can do some EQ tricks to bring out more attack in the strings and that's okay. To me it's about when the strings start ringing in an annoying way, like they sound out of tune even though they are tuned.
I've been playing for 40 years, so I've played all of the major brands. I also do set up work for friends, so I've changed a whole lot of strings. Dean Markley, EB, Maxima Gold, Pyramid, GHS, Cleartone, D'Addario (XL, NYXL, coated, etc), DR, D'Angelico, GHS...
Elixirs always last at least twice as long for me and stay pretty consistent throughout. I can't stand the coated offerings from D'Addario or others.
DR Veritas last much longer than other uncoated ones and have the best sound for me.

That's it! I had no idea! I see one of these and a second Kab in my future. 😄

The power head would be perfect if they converted the power amp into stereo. A retrofit option with an extra speaker output would make it onto my shopping list. Pair of Kabs in stereo with no external units. 😎

I think there's a serious business opportunity to whoever creates a powered cab designed for a Kemper Kone. Whoever gets there first.

EQ pedal is a good idea.
I still strongly suggest creating specific rigs for each guitar. I've got profiles that sound great with my Tele, but not with any of my other guitars even though they're mostly the same output.
Most of my performances are for my main guitar, but I have 2 banks dedicated to the Tele.

I think the 3 choices are:
- tweak a set of profiles that sound perfect with the Suhr with the Clean Sense and Dist Sense at zero
- bump up the Dist Sense even more for the Suhr
- use a clean boost as mentioned
Pros and cons to each, but the first is the best IMO

I moved the kemper from the stereo 1/4" connections on channel 3/4 to individual channels 1 and 2 on the mixer (plugging into the middle of the XLR) and the volume problems are fixed.
Does anybody know why this is? Is the mixer defective?
I still think you need to unlink the Master and Monitor output volumes so you can crank the Master to get a strong signal to the board and still be able to control the Kone volume.
-
I think possibly you have the Master and Monitor volumes linked in the Output menu. You want to unchecked the box so you can control the 2 independently. Otherwise when you turn the Kemper volume down to prevent the Kone from taking your head off you're also turning down the input volume to the mixer. You usually don't want the Master outputs to change once set.
-
If you're still fairly new to the Kemper, you'll probably be tweaking a lot. I find the looper and remote makes this waaaay easier, because you can play a part into the looper, then put your guitar down to concentrate on settings and choosing a profile with both hands, in a comfortable position.

When I saw Robben Ford I was first row and his Dumble was pointed straight at me. I honestly haven't heard a better electric guitar sound.
That said, I've never been able to reproduce that sound, notwithstanding the fact that I'm not him. 😀

I bought the powered kemper and use it with the same cab i played my peavey jsx through. Profiled my peavey jsx with my speaker cab and its the only profile I ever use. Literally sounds just like my jsx side by side.
This reminds me of my own "tipping point". I had mine for a few weeks and had been comparing it with my Bogner Shiva and thinking there was a lot missing. So I plugged the Kemper straight into the speakers of the Bogner and it sounded virtually identical. The next day I was playing through it and forgot which one I was playing until I looked over and the Bogner power light was off. 🙂

Also, don't forget that asking the people here if they like Kempers is like going to a cocaine forum and asking "Is crack for me?" 😎
