I also agree totally, (even when using direct profiles), they tend to sound very similar when plugging straight into a 4×12 cabinet…
Yes, because the speaker has a huge impact on the sound of the amp. In a lot situation it makes more sense to change the cab/speaker than the amp.
Just check out this video for example. It might be an ear opener (13 speakers vs one amp): -
Hey Leute,

Zwei in Eins. Transport und Ablage: kemper-amps.com/wbb/attachment/5691/

Thanks MBritt!
Yeah, also my first choice profiles!
-
...and if you are familiar with the sounds that specific microphones capture, than that can help as well to choose/buy profiles you might like.
It´s a matter of taste of course, but for me those profiles work best which have been profiled with two mics blend together. And here the combination
of -lets say- a bright and dark microphone (e.g. sm57 / ribbon mic) capture the sound closest to what I here when I stand in front of a guitar cabinet.
Of course other combinations like md421/sm57 make sense as well, if you need midrange punch to cut through the mix or just like the sound. -
The only problem I had was the remote. When I went to switch 1-5 in the heat of battle I kept hitting the bank up/down buttons and even the looper button. Gonna take a little practice with that.
Yeah, I know that problem! After my first show with the KPA I switched off "mute signal" for the tuner button. Because I hit the tuner button accidentally and muted
my hero solo That must have looked funny:) -
My recomendation is: Keep going on your favorite profile until you want to be inspired by another profile.
This way you will find out naturally which profile is the best for certain situations and guitars. And it´s even more honest if you don´t know which profile you dialed in. Because then your ears and feel decide and not your brain:)

Dear Hans,
now that is a sick question
I can see a "Kemper Profiling Streaming Service Company" if I think about this.
I don´t know how sensitive the kemper reacts on latency. But the Problem I see is, that you digitalize and color the IR test signals of the kemper twice before they arrive. And you color the answers twice as well before you get them back. So this might misrepresent the results.
But give it a try! I´m curios if it works and I´m a fan of your idea! -
And you here the low rumble only in the recorded tracks? Or also while playing?
Standard in post-production would anyway be a low-cut on the guitar tracks if bass and drums are added. But that depends of course on what sound aesthetic you prefer. -
Same experience here under different circumstances:
I was playing four shows with a Band. I used my KPA.
On the fifth show a different guitarist played. He used the Helix. The MD later said, that the KPA definitely has the much better sounds than the Helix.
-
If the buzz would be caused be grounding problems you would have the buzz with any amp and not only with the Kemper. But who knows, things can happen in any direction...

Why is the cab not miced ?
Thanks for sharing, Andy! -

I would plug the monitor outs into the line inputs of your device. Than pan hard left and right for a proper stereo image.
Have Fun!
