To bump this.. how many of you have gone to local music stores and they have ZERO idea what a kemper is?
Well ?
I think it's unanimous Marc. Bring on the grind!
I know he uses kempers for his tones, but are they out there?!
The best way to do it is using the Transpose knob in the RIG configuration. That way you dont waste a stomp slot.
Just press button RIG and turn the knob Transpose. Each step is a semitone.
I did a head to head comparison with the Drop pedal. They both work pretty similar. Good for distorted tones. Not so good for clean. I decided to return the Digitech Drop pedal to the shop after the test because it didn't give anything better for my use than the Kemper itself. That is, going down from drop D to drop C for just a song in our set using a gainy Mesa profile.
Thank you! That's awesome. I found the cleans on the drop pedal to be decent. Glad to hear you did the research and it's much appreciated
Yes, definitely. A couple of semitones up or down with the transpose pedal (before the amp section) will sound very good. Dive bombs are absolutely possible as well with the pedal pitch stomp.
The only thing you can't do is pitch shift individual strings, you need special pickups for that.
Oh yeah it would just be full tunings not worried about individual strings! I've only gotten a chance to scope the stomps and whatnot for a very short time. any chance you know exactly what pitch pedal I should be looking for? I remember seeing a few.
I'm just looking for a straight-forward answer because I can't seem to find one.. and having trouble figuring this out.
Can you use the Kemper for actual changes to tuning like say my Digitech Drop pedal to drop semitones? (Maybe even go up tunings?)
And can you use it like a whammy for dive bombs to say an octave lower? I listen to a band in which the guitar player says he uses his Kemper to do it.
I just cannot for the life of me figure it out!
Trying to decide if I still need that drop pedal which is why I'd like to know an answer to my first question.
Hope I'm not pulling teeth with this one and thanks ahead of time!
You're the MVP for this! Thanks!
+1 agreed! I've just started getting third party profiles and the difference is ridiculous at times.
I'm definitely interested in giving it a go! I can compare directly to the Namless Suite as I bought it, but passed on NTS since I bought a Kemper. Let us know!
Can you post a link to an example of the sound you would like to get?
I forgot to quote you to respond, but I posted examples above.
Hi all, being new I was told this is an appropriate place to ask if there's anything out there for specific bands tones.
1. Billy Talent - Ian D'sa is my favorite guitarist and he uses a Stephenson combined with a Diezel VH4 on channel 2. I don't know if it's even possible to profile two amps being used at the same time or if there's a wayt o combine.. may be a reach but man.. his tone is killer!
2. The band Ghost - I'm a huge fan and I like to jam their stuff with friends. I've heard rumors that they use Orange TH200's live but I can't get one to sound the same.
Thanks!
One example is the into of this song and just before the bridge
Another is the bridge riff in this song before the whole band comes in.
Very very distinct tones.
I jam Billy Talent songs with some friends and Ian D'sa's use of the Woolly Mammoth is key in a couple songs. Anyone ever tried to recreate anything like it? I understand it's basically a glorified fuzz pedal but there's definitely a distinct tone. Thanks ahead of time!
By all means re-post your questions over in that sub-forum, someone will chime in to help you with your tone quest!
I shall. I'm sure it gets old basically directing new user traffic and questions lol.
Welcome, Michael. Hit the third party rig discussion sub forum for requests re: profiles. Re-watch the vid as it should work for you however you're deciding to use it. Enjoy your new gear, it's a beautiful thing man!
I will edit that out of my post and do so thanks!!
Hey guys and gals! I'm Michael from Minnesota!
Just picked up a non-powered version and footswitch! (got the mission pedal for it too)
Anyways, look forward to chatting with you all!
