The consequence would be, that if you load a Rig from User Rig Exchange, a KEMPER Rig Pack or a commerical offering, it might overwrite your pedal configurations potentially in a way not compatible with your physical setup.

I think that would be okay, to be honest. Easy enough to change it. The benefit of it being rig-specific outweighs that drawback to my mind.

You can! Download Rig Manager if you haven't already, and connect your Kemper via USB. On the left hand sidebar, 'All Rigs' -> 'Rig Packs' -> 'Kemper Bass Profiles'. You'll find all the profiles that came on the Kemper originally, plus some other ones too by the looks of it.

Nice! How do you get some of the Kemper Stock profiles for bass amp/rigs? Or is there any especial good ones found within Rig Manager?

On the Kemper itself in Browser mode - hit the soft button that says 'All Rigs', and then you can turn the 'Type' knob to select 'Just Bass'. That will filter the rigs to only bass ones. There's a couple of dozen bass rigs that come loaded onto the Kemper.

    +1

This has been an extremely useful feature on the Boss MS-3, which I've used a lot in the past. It's a shame it's not on the Kemper, especially given that feedback is very difficult on a 'direct' device like this.

I would also find this useful to trigger the looper via midi backing tracks...

I do this with the other guitarist in my band on his Strymon TimeLine, and it works really well. I was so hoping this would be possible with the Kemper - and fair enough if the NRPN commands do it, my Powerrack hasn't arrived yet to test - but it would be perfect if it was just a MIDI message to record, and another to play/overdub, like the TimeLine does.

Well, I've gone and ordered the Kemper Powerrack! Arriving next month, I'm very excited. Rehearsal rooms tend to have passive guitar cabs in them, so I intend to plug it in to one of those. There's various reasons why I'm not going into the PA in this instance!

Only... I'm a little nervous. A year and a half ago I had a nightmare just before a show where I literally fried my bass amp head (Spoiler alert - don't plug two heads into one cab!). It's got me very paranoid about plugging heads into cabs - especially the £1800 Kemper I just ordered. If I broke it, I wouldn't be able to afford the repair.

I know almost nothing about guitar cabs, so before I Are most guitar cabs created equal? Can I safely plug into every guitar cabinet with the Kemper and know it'll work, or do I need to find out the cab's specs first? Do you know of any cabs you can't plug the Kemper into?

And finally, say I unplugged the cable from the cab's side but left it in the Kemper - I heard that that damages a regular amp. Not sure if there's truth to that, but what happens if I do that to a Kemper? Is it okay to do that?

I'm sorry I have so many questions. I just really do not want to break this thing.

Thanks chu! Can I ask what version of the firmware you're on? Some folks online were saying it didn't work past 5.0, and I can't see mention of any looper parameters in the MIDI guide beside volume and location, which makes me worried that it's been scrapped.

I've heard varying accounts of whether this can be done, but I thought I best ask directly. Can MIDI commands be used to control the looper on the Kemper? I have a live show wherein a guitar is looped automatically via MIDI messages sent from Ableton during playback of the backing track. I'd love to be able to do this with my own guitar part, as currently we only have it running for the other guitar.

That's fantastic! In fact when I loaded up the manual just there it turns out I was on the very page that described what you were saying... not sure how my reading comprehension failed me so spectacularly but thank you for telling me anyways.

I'll need to have a long think about how best to plan out my rig to keep it versatile - I hope another forum post on that won't be spammy - but it helps to hear from experienced Kemper users as to how I should go about this!

Hi all, I'm new to the forum and am saving for a Kemper Powerrack later this year!

I have a small query about the MIDI functionality that the manual hasn't been able to answer for me. For the most part, I'd be happy to move a lot of my effects onto the Kemper, but I have a Strymon BigSky and TimeLine which I love, and want to keep using. Currently I send program change messages via MIDI using a Boss MS-3 to switch presets during a show. I play ambient music so as you can imagine, I make use of a lot of those sorts of presets!

If I were to only use a Kemper with my two Strymons, I would need an alternate method of MIDI control. I like the idea of the Kemper Remote to switch rigs, but what I don't know is whether I can, for instance, have the Kemper generate the two program change messages necessary to switch the Strymons. Ideally I'd like to be able to load up a rig, and at the same time it would fire off the program changes, thus changing the Strymons and the Kemper with one button.

If the Kemper can only accept MIDI messages and not generate any itself, then the Remote is perhaps not the route to go down, as I would really like a one-button solution to the MIDI switching 'problem', so I'd probably have to buy a different MIDI controller to control both the Kemper and the Strymons. I probably intend to keep using the Boss MS-3 for some momentary effects but there are a couple of limitations that stop it from being the best option for MIDI/Kemper control.

Any help would be much appreciated!
