I think to properly complete your studio color coordination you should switch to the White Penguin.

I wrote crank up (means gear cup) not cracks. And you can easily ad a pickup system without violating there guitar.
I did this with my old Höfner Guitar.
https://schatten-pickups.mysho…selmer-gypsy-jazz-guitarsUnderstand. My "cracks" comment refers to the video link you sent where it's stated that most of these guitars end up with cracks over time. Those original 60s strings have enough tension to hold up the Golden gate bridge. No wonder the neck's so chubby. Still, a PU might be a useful mod if I can get the acoustic set-up well enough. So far so good. Thanks for the advice.

Maybe a project to crank up the guitar with a pickup?
https://www.premierguitar.com/…re-kay-k6868-style-leaderGreat information Yoda. Luckily no cracks in this one. But maybe a pickup mod is a way to go. At least I wouldn’t be violating a vintage masterpiece.

I know, not electric so not much use with the Kemper but still my latest guitar. A 1960s era Kay archtop. Found it today at the local thrift store for $180. I think it's a good deal and it looks great, has all original parts and a straight neck. It will be my project for a while to get it cleaned up and re-secure the neck joint that's pulling away from the body. I think the price was low enough that the wife isn't complaining. One man's junk is another man's treasure.

......Plus I hate anyone that young that can play me off the planet!
also makes me wish I started younger and developed more of the basics and I bet he knows theory too...
I started pretty young.... didn't help.

no the cult like following stems from the initiation ceremony where we have to roll up one trouser leg, and drink the blood of a virgin unicorn before swearing allegiance to Paul and accept death by stoning by women wearing beards if we ever speak ill the grand master.
I'm a bit hazy on the whole thing, but I think was at one of those back in the 80s. Although the chastity of the unicorn was never confirmed...

Rik's stage antics have mellowed a bit since those days (gracefully). What a talent. He's still got the magic power.

I don't like it. Sorry, I can't stand videos that make me mad at my fingers.

Here's a fairly recent group photo. The latest was that Martin SC-13e all the way to the right. I have to tell you, it has blown me away. It is my new favorite guitar for sure.
I think you're gunna need a bigger room.

My recollection of the 70s Strats (admittedly it's been a while, and I've slept since then) is that they were all over the place in terms of necks, bodies, quality, etc. One in particular was a body as heavy as my G&L (far heavier than my 89 Strat), and it had a thick neck as you mentioned.
Yes, and it has the notorious 3-screw neck with the micro neck adjustment that many complained about. I haven't had any issues though. Sometimes you get lucky.

Kahuna59 Curious about your 79 Strat. The first electric I learned to play on was my dad's 79 which now belongs to my brother. It is a hardtail in natural finish. Very heavy compared to the other strats I have owned and the neck was very narrow but thick which I now can't stand. Curious if all 79's were built with that neck and the very heavy wood? Love the large headstocks on those!
Southdakota, I'm a bit of an oddball in that I actually prefer a heftier guitar. This one weighs 9.7 lb. The neck seems thin to me, it's 1.62" wide at the nut and 2.02" at the twelfth. about 0.86 thick at the first and 0.96 at the twelfth. Part of the reason I sold my PRS Santana is it seemed too light. I know, kind of bucks the trend. So far my back is still holding up!

I would start with doing your own profile and that should nail the tone. If the Kabinet doesn't push enough air you could run it through your 2x12. That's the great advantage of the Kemper. You can clone your setup, relieve your back and simplify your life at no extra cost.
-
Are you saying that you have profiled the Mesa and cab and aren't satisfied with the result? or that you aren't satisfied with someone else's profiles that you've used to try to replicate your sound? I would have thought an actual profile of your physical setup would come pretty close. Dumping the 100 pounder is a worthy goal.

My first two. On the sonic blue one on the right started out as a Marquis Strat copy bought new in 1977. A few years ago I had to junk all the hardware and crappy neck but couldn't totally part from the guitar. So I stripped and refinished the body and put a new neck and hardware on it. The one on the left I bought new from the Seattle Guitar Center in 1979. It's completely original. I don't play them much anymore but will never part with them.
-
These are the only two guitars I've ever owned, had the one on the right for around 15 years or so and grabbed the other one a few years ago just to have a "fishman" guitar even though I never play it. I've never felt the need to play anything other than the LTD it's just amazing for me
That's cool. A lot have come and gone but I still have the first two I ever bought.

Great showman and musician. Never care for videos where the camera director gets so switch happy. A bit frustrating to watch. That, plus Chuck doing the splits made me hurt.
-
Who are these guys? Are they a Chicago tribute? Just such a polished sound...
They seem to be a pretty hot commodity.
-
I think I've realised I have no soul...I just cannot get into BB King...amazing musician but I just feel nothing
Listen to the version with BB King and Gary Moore. You'll get your soul back.
-
Of course Kahuna!
Where are you from? Birmingham?
I love this type of singing where the lyrics flowing in a kind of blue note over the musical accompaniment.
At that time there were some bands that were good at that. Unfortunately we don't find it anymore today,
No, I'm a Seattle boy. Love Phil, Gary, Scott,....all the guys. Especially Gary's solo stuff. Great influence for a young guy obsessed with guitar in the late 70s.
-
Awesome! Those boy were really jumping - literally. That was from my era. One of my favorite bands and nice to see this one captured with another favorite Gary Moore. Kinda miss it.
