I have both MBritt and Tone Junkie profiles and lots of both. I prefer the MBritt profiles for what I am doing. ToneJunkie has a larger verity of amp, rare amp and they are all very well done. MBritt just hits the sweet spot for me, His SLO100 and Dumble packs are amazing and my two preferred right now. I would go for the MBritt loaded and then you can try ToneJunkie out by getting on their mainling list asnd they send out a free profile or two every Friday. That way you will know what you would like before buying and if you like them all they often do sales on their everything pack.

Hi folks,
I recently converted to a Kemper stage from the Helix. I have to say I’m Blown away. I much prefer the sounds from a Kemper (even with just stock profiles) as compared to the Helix. Look forward to asking some noob questions out here :-).
I made the same jump last year. I got tired of spending more time tweeking then playing.
Welcome to the club.

I assume you'll be naming the guitar as a George Washington model?
lol, I could but I have never actually given my guitars names. This is just the Cherry Tele
-
I think we need a before and after picture of the cherry tree that gave its life to become what will doubtless be a very cool guitar. Something about caterpillars and butterflies comes to mind.
I just spent the last 20 minutes looking for the pictures of the tree and I am not able to find them. I know I have them somewhere because I was not sure if I would need to have them for the insurance company.
Here is another shot of the boards fresh from the mill.

Sooo, my latest is another one of my own builds. I had a cherry treee fall next to my house back in February and I have been slowly turning it into a guitar. Custom wound P90s, managed to get a Les Paul wiring into the Tele cavity as well. Unfortunately I have not built the neck yet but I bought a MIM Fender Tele neck to slap on it until I can make a neck I like.
Edit Ok, I tried to get the pictures. Youll have to deal with the links because I am not going through the pain of resizing every pic.

Everybody should sound like himself
makes no sense to sound like Bonamassa, cause we already have Bonamassa
Finding a unique own sound and playing is the key
This is exactly why I never make my performances by song. I make my performances by amp and 1-4 increase the drive and 5 is the lead. I would much rather grab the Dumble tone I made for rock and blues and just play, or the Mesa dual rec performance I made for metal. I like sounding like me but playing the song.

Well, that didn't take too long. Welcome to the Hotel Kemper. Good choice.
Ya, the conversation just re-enforced the idea that the Kemper has value in my rig line up. I will just mess with pedals to satisfy my GAS needs.

We'll want to see that Tele
I will post it up, For starters, here is the control plate I put together. So far the body is being cut out but that got delayed last night when my band saw decided it doesnt like to cut cherry wood.

The big factor here is options...
Yes you could go back to a Valve amp and dig the sound.....for a bit....then you'll think, hmm I need a different sound.....hang on, I need to buy another amp?
I think this is pure G.A.S which inevitably leads to disappointment as you chase perfect sound ( which doesn't exist).
At least with the Stage/KPA you have options in a box. You can try all these different amps and effects by the mere turn of a knob ( ohh err matron).
I have diverted my G.A.S to guitars
However its what drives you and gives you that satisfaction...
I think I am over the idea of selling my Kemper. I have moved on to building my next Tele. Thanks for the input all

The Kemper was designed with recording in mind. Are you thinking you would rather go back to using microphones for recording?
I actually have a Two notes captor for that kind of thing and came get the cranked tone without volume. I dont mind setting up mics though, as long as I dont have to always move them.
Been there and done that (years ago) - and ended up with the Kemper. We each have our own path to walk though
That is just the kind of response that makes me think I might regret letting the Kemper go.

Not sure if I am crazy, been locked inside too long or just have GAS again. Lately I have been playing my Archon a lot and really enjoy the tone and feel of it. This has made me re-think my Kemper Stage purchase and think if I would enjoy a real /13 or a dual rec or something with tubes. When I got the Stage it was intended to be used for practicing and gigging but as we all know that is not happening anytime soon for most of us. Am I just being stupid or would another tube amp really be the way to go since I think Ill be focusing on home recording and youtube types of performances. I dont expect anyone to make up my mind but maybe there are others here with similar thoughts about it.

Kudos to Diezel:
While I am all for the profiling technology, the instance that they mention of "buying and amp, profiling it and then returning it" is wrong. While I have thought about doing this with used amps at GC, I could never actually bring myself to do it. Profiling is great but it has never been meant to "steal" an amp like that.

Hey Everyone. How does the Helix's overdrive/distortion stomps compare to the Kemper? I'm happy with the amp/cab tones that I get from my Kemper, but I'm considering to pair it with a Helix Stomp or Helix Effects. Are the overdrive and distortion tones and options any better on the Helix?
The ODs and effects in general are top notch in the Helix. I used it for 3 years before getting my first Kemper(stage). The effects are the only thing I miss. Much happier with the tone, feel and lack of need to tweek.

Seems that if you put them both on OS 7.4.1 it would be a simple process since that is a unified OS. Backup the head and restore to the stage.
-
If money is not an issue, I would go with an Atomic CLR if you can find one. I use the Line6 powercab 112 and it suits my needs but you may want a little more for studio use.
-
I do use the on board tuner when I am connected to the Kemper but I also use a Boss TU-3 when connected to my Archon. I also have a Super Snark for when I dont feel like plugging into anything.

NOT MINE.....I am looking to buy this Les Paul Studio 60's Tribute. I've never owned a LP but have played many. Any of you guys or gals have any experience with the Tributes? They are nitro finish and obviously a cheaper LP but I'm fine with that. Do they play well? Frets dressed properly? Will it feel and play more like an Epiphone? I am primarily buying because of the P90's. Thank you!
I already own two Les Pauls and what you are getting is the exact thing I want for me next LP. Gold top, 60's neck and P90s is an amazing combo. I have a 2010 Studio that was my first LP and the Studio line is quality.
