This mod is to deactivate the EC boost = to use the guitar in passive mode.
The booster in the guitar has the advantage that it can be controlled directly from the guitar - and that it generates less noise when it's in the guitar vs. after the (long) guitar cable - in/before the Amp.
Tonewise shoud a booster and/or EQ in the Kemper do the trick as well.
