I am extremely skeptical of how cheap DI boxes effect the tone of direct amp profiles.
Anyone have any spec info on this?
Here is a box from Neve. Looks interesting.

Here are some reviews.

Seems these reviewers believe cheap di boxes degrade the signal?
Makes me more curious...
Of course anyone who bought something that said neve on it is going to say things like that, come on haha! Great marketing, probably pure hype. I personally know no one making records using this thing but hey, maybe it's awesome. I'm also quite sure that the boxes like the country man that are used in A list studios across the country are more than fine as well

The official Kemper DI post includes some inexpensive boxes in their recommendations - it seems unlikely any untested boxes would have made the list.
If you have a look at the parts inside a basic DI box you can be sure that the metal housing is the most expensive part of it.
I don't doubt that the Neve box is over price and over hyped.
Curious though how the transformer etc in the DI boxes effect the signal that passes through and how this effects the signal that is then profiled to be used to determine where the cab is on a DA profile. It seems to me that they would need to be very transparent to make this work the best.
