HI all, just bumping this up again to see if anyone has any other ideas? I still have this buzz issue (that I'm living with by using the noise gate). I've tried multiple midi to USB adaptors with exactly the same issue as before.

I've even bought an adaptor which others assure me they don't get buzz :) so I'll be happy to admit I've screwed something up, but I have a lot of gear and the only time I hit buzz is between the HX FX and the Kemper Player. As mentioned elsewhere, I also used the HX FX with a TONEX without issue.

    Thanks!

Quite possibly, but don’t get this when connected to a TONEX.

I have the HX FX out connected to Player input, and player output to monitors. With no midi connection or USB MIDI connection there is zero noise. If I connect either a USB to DIN connector or a USB A to B between the HX and the Player, I get the buzz, so it’s not uniquely MIDI DIN. Tried different PSUs, even tried it at the rehearsal rooms, the same thing happens.

The other way to remove the noise is to remove the 1/4 cable between HX and Player. I’ve also tried changing this cable in case it was dodgy. Something seemingly about earthing the two I guess.

Any other tests scenarios happily received! Thanks!

    Have an interesting issue.

I have my profiler alongside a HX FX unit. Since I can't get the midi control working with a USB A -> B cable from HX to Player I bought a USB to Midi DIN, and this works fine.

The issue is that with the midi adaptor plugged in, I get incredible noise with higher gain rigs. I can use the noise gate to mitigate it but never had such an issue before. I've tried the Player in a FX loop on the HX, before the HX, after the HX, even completely disconnected from the HX (apart from the midi cable) with the same result.

I've also tried different PSUs and cables, nothing seems to make a difference.

    Any ideas? Thank you!

Right, an update...that I don't fully understand. Having tested sending PC from my PC and seeing it working correctly, I went with hit and miss stuff on my HX.

In short, it's all working amazingly, by simply changing the Midi Channel to "2", so on the HX it looks like this:

    Command: BankPC

    Midi CH: 2

    CC00: Off

    CC32: Off

    Prog: as per table, e.g. 0 = Bank 1, Rig 1, and 5 = Bank 2, Rig 2 and so on

Attached a lookup table to help anyone if it helps, and if someone can improve my understanding to tell me why this works and other channels don't, please do!

Ah thanks! The manual says otherwise - get them to update it :)

Yes, I agree, an A to A is not a good plan, thus I was using a B to A from Helix (it only has USB-B) to Player - the debug attached above came from the very cable I've plugged into the Player and it doesn't work...I'm still confident I'm doing something wrong...

Any luck on my second query?

    Hi, thanks for the reply.

Cables - I understand from the documentation is that the Player only accepts midi on the USB-A port. So, I'm using a USB-B (from Helix) to USB-A (|Player) to connect. I don't have a USB-A to USB-A cable to connect the player A port to my PC. If I can try the other way (via the Player's USB-B port) then it's easy, not tried it but manual suggested it was the A port only.

No-one is replying on my other thread, so now that I have it working via my USB to DIN cable, I have CC's working as expected but not PC for loading rigs:

For some reason, with these settings I can only move through Bank 10...

    Command: BankPC

    Midi CH: 1/Base

    CC00: Off

    CC32: Off

    Prog: e.g. 5 (Bank 10 Rig 4) or 4 (Bank 10 Rig 3)

If I increase the value of Prog - it always simply moves through Bank 10 only in a never-ending loop. I've also tried different CC values other than "Off" without any change. Even if I start in a different Bank, it always move to Bank 10.

    Help appreciated!

Hi - I was trying CC for enabling fx and PC for rigs. Neither work. I've now A/B'd using the direct USB vs the USB to DIN with ones I know work - the direct USB between the 2 simply doesn't work (yes, USB is enabled in Global HX settings, currently set to "both")

Still happy to try other recommendations! I just started another thread with issues now that some stuff is working

I posted previously about issues with HX FX controlling my Player direct USB to USB - should work but doesn't. I've now used a USB to midi din cable and am having success. With regards to CC messages to control FX slots, all is good (I'll pop the info at the bottom in case it's useful to anyone.

My issue is with Selecting Rigs. For my mild OCD I always have my clean in Bank 1 Rig 1, and move onwards from there for Crunch, Lead etc in Rig 2 etc.

I'm sure I'm just being dumb, but if someone can point out the errors of my ways I'd be appreciative.

For CC, the following is an example that's working for Slot A on/off if it helps anyone:

    Command: CC Toggle

    Midi Ch: Base

    CC#: 17

    DimVal: 0

    LitVal: 1-127

    Type: Latch

    Cheers

So, to update, it seems HX to Kemper direct from USB simply doesn't work (would still be interesting to see if Kemper can tell me why not given the info above). I bought a USB to Midi DIN adapter and this is largely working. I have another issue which I'll post in a separate thread.

Enjoying my first Kemper foray with the Player. However, I'm trying to control the unit from the HX FX (like I do with my Tonex, shhh...) with little success.

I've got USB Midi enabled on the HX and using a USB-B (HX FX) to Player USB-A. Tried CC, Bank PC etc without luck. Tried the manuals but they're not helping either, using Base MIDI channel.

Anyone managed to try this combo, or advise my stupidity on midi settings?

I've attached the dump of the USB Descriptor.

    Settings on HX are:

    Command: Midi CC

    Midi Ch: 1 or Base

CC# 53 (to select slot 4 for this test)

    Value: 1

    This does nothing...

I'd also like to ultimately sync the tap tempo once the other control works.

    Thanks!
