I wonder if he realizes how much he could make if he offered those profiles for sale. Myself, I would drop several hundred dollars if he put out some sort of mega-pack!

Don't agree! The KPA is a very good digital guitar box, specially for clean and crunch sounds. But i. e. for heavy rock and metal in studio productions there are better boxes available (Fractal Audios Axes), imo.
Can't hardly live without the KPA, but can't definitly live without the AXE.So you're saying KPA can't do metal?

I own both. I prefer the tones of the Kemper for all genres, but I also love what the AXE does. I also think the Kemper community offerings, both commercial and free, are superior to the AXE community(this may be a product of Cliff's endless FW updates though).
I would be surprised if you need to tweak the Kemper THAT much. With so many profiles (4000+ or so), surely every conceivable tone is covered several times over. The Kemper can hold 1000 profiles, so you could pre-load your performance without any worries. Still, if you must tweak in a live situation, the Kemper is very easy and intuitive. The knobs/interface are much more amp-like than that of the AXE. NO MORE TWEAK FESTS! -
I love that it is the best-sounding digital representation of all the analogue amps we love out there.
I hate that it's only a snapshot of the amp though, rather than the whole accurate spectrum of the amp. I get the "wearing another man's clothes" complaint.
I hope that it can someday profile pedals. I hope someday there is a tone-matching option.
Other than that, it's all bliss. -
I thought the LOAD patch from the AXE was pretty good though.

Guys, for Metallica, you should check out And44's Mesa Mark 2C+ pack(it's premium). There is one called MK II Anger which seems to nail Metallica pretty damned good!
I've had the AXE II for a month now, and I think Andy's profile is much better for Metallica.

Edit: Fixed

I guess it depends on what your guitar goals are... If you're seeking to make a living from music, you're probably going to want to have a signature tone. If you're just a hobbyist trying to get good, what difference does it make?
For me, there is one player who has the tone and the aggressive playing that appeals to me. I am, for all intents and purposes, trying to emulate his style... at least for now, and the foreseeable future. But, I bet every guitarist starts off in this direction before ultimately finding his 'guitar self.' I think you have to get to a certain level of competency to reach this self-actualization though.

I've had very good results with Behringer Truths across the entire modeling spectrum. I've been using them since the GNX4 was cool.

For what, then, will the USB port be used? IIRC, someone a long time ago suggested the librarian, which will be an on-line feature, will utilize the USB port.
-
Bravo! Now maybe the Kemper will shed it's mythological 'beta' status!
-
There's still an untapped market for profiles, and that is tone-matching. Surprised no one has jumped on this yet.

Both/And bro!
Everyone has times when they prefer one or the other. Different tools for different purposes. I think we all need to have the Kemper AND at least one good tube amp handy. There are times when I really need to use one or the other for different situations.
My thoughts, exactly. I still feel the need for a tube amp. I have one tone I prefer over all others and that is the JCM800 2203 with KT-88s. For everything else, I have t covered between the Kemper and the AXE.

I have the rack now, but I had the lunchbox for a year prior to that. I miss the LED lights around the knobs, but I like the USB port in the front with the rack. I have an AXE II also and they look great paired together in my studio desk. Neat and tidy.
I will miss the lunchbox form factor when I go on vacations though!

I say yes, because we dare ask for continued greatness; even though, it was already a masterpiece back when first orders were being shipped.

Inquiring minds want to know.....

I haven't gotten to check this out yet. Too busy at the moment. Not much feedback at all.... what's the first impressions?

Did you try the new editor?

It would be a hypocrisy for a modelling platform to complain about someone profiling a patch! Only the original amp makers have the right to complain about the current state of affairs, IMO
