I tried to eliminate all remaining tabs, so that it should be OK now, can you please try it and give me some feedback ?

First post updated for MAC users
Thanks waraba,
I put a new version under dropbox to allow :
- to copy .kipr files ,then rename them following the model described below
- Added some amps in pop up menus (provided that one day we can write tags)
To get the files copied with the new names :
1 check the box 'Rename kipr rig files"
2 click on "Generate csv from Rigs directory"
The new files should be located into the selected directory (where the original ones are)
Rig_[RigAuthor]_[RigName]_[AmpSource]_[AmpModel]_[AmpChannel].kipr
some examples : Rig_[And44]_[AndMarsJCM]_[Marshall]_[JCM800]_[Clean].kipr
: Rig_[Gondwana]_[VOX AC30'70 Crunch NE]_[Vox]_[Combo 30-1970]_[Crunch]_.kipr
Same dropbox links for both .application (OsX 10.7.4) and source code (PC,other OsX, Fedora ?)
Laurent
New version available at same dropbox link :
I added some popup menus for future, when it will be possible to write tags (??)
Laurent
I finally succeeded in running the program on a PC running Windows XP
1 - I installed python (I tried with python 2.6 and python 2.7.3) from http://www.python.org/getit/
2 - From the python environment guy, I opened the file kpa_tag_extractor.py
3 I ran : "run module"
and voilà.
I won't go further on a pc since there are some dlls dependancies when trying to generate an exe file : if someone has the skills to
do it, don't hesitate
If someone can also test on Windows7 ?
As usually, feedback is welcome, the dropbox link to get source code can be found in the first post of this thread.
After some minor changes, it starts to work on a Fedora 16 distribution
More tests to be done before being delivered
At first I had to install tk with : yum install tk
Then I was able to run the program with : python kpa_tag_extractor.py
For Mac OS 10.7.4 users only, there is a zip file to uncompress and to put in the Applications directory here:
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/74887749/kpa_tag_inspector.app.zip
Feedback welcome !
Added a scrollbar and changed main window initial size

Orininal post updated
I reworked the User Interface, but when launching the program (python kpa_tag_inspector.py), you need to maximize the window to see all fields.
(Be aware that having no kpa, I could not test the write_tags function, so do not use it)
As usually, feedback is welcome.

Laurent
Here is the dropbox link :
Yes, i use osx 10.7.4 so that i can not check on other platforms
The best for me would be to learn how to generate a independant platform .dmg

Laurent
Thanks bigHF for the feedback !
Unfortunately, I don't have an answer for the problem you are facing.
Are you running the application from a terminal or from the .app installed in the Applications directory.
I know that python uses an environment variable PYTHONPATH to find modules, so you can try something like : export PYTHONPATH=<path to the ttk module> before running the application
On my system, I didn't have to perform any setting of this kind.
I will try to find a way to include this in the application, but I'm not sure it is possible.
Thanks again,
Laurent
my pleasure !
The csv file can be imported into Excel to sort rigs by tags (amp name, rig author,...).
Cheers,
Laurent
I almost had no feedback, so I will stop posting in this thread.
Laurent
Here is a new one containing the tags of Maurizio70 rigs :
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/74887749/2012-06-18%2022-27-14.xlsx
Added an excel sheet coming from a .csv generated by this tool , it contains the tags of Maurizio70's rigs :

These are old files.
I've created the link right now, so I think you may have to wait for the file to be available.

If you have python installed on your machine, you can have a look at a thread called 'Basic Tag extractor'
I removed the files under dropbox because I need some new space
Laurent
Generating a .app will be more complicated than what I was expecting.
As a consequence, I put under dropbox the 2 source files I used in a zip file here :
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/74887749/python_files.zip
After uncompressing it there should be 2 files in a directory called : python_files.
From this directory, you can run :
python kipr_tag_extractor.py
Please let me know if it works for you
Thanks,
Laurent
PS : I will update the dropbox link appearing in the first post
