It's interesting how the Kemper has really made me re-evaluate my sound and my amps..

Andrew, thanks and good luck with the move, a basement sounds good. Interesting to hear if you find that a different room makes much difference..
-
Andrew, another set of excellent of profiles. I wonder if you could describe your approach and set-up to profilng, you really seem to be able to nail the clean to crunch sound.

bugger, that'l cost me another pair of shoes and a handbag to keep the wife quiet
My wide doesn't know. Thats one of the best thing about Kempers, there's no physical evidence beyond the amp itself -
Zappledan,
I've made a quick A/B test with my old Variax 500 using standard rig exchange amps and recorded straight into DAW. All middle pickups.Tele with Cornell Romany RT20 Clean +
soundclip 1 - Squier Vintage Modified Thinline with SD pickups ( need to sort out that noise )
soundclip 2 - Variax '68 ThinlineStrat with Mesa TA30 Crunch TB
soundclip 3 - 90's Jap Strat with Kinman pickups
soundclip 4 - Variax '59 StratLes Paul with JTM45 HW OD1
soundclip 5 Gibson JB Les Paul Studio - with Burstbuckers
soundclip 6 Variax '59 Les Paul Standard
soundclip 7 Variax '61 Les Paul CustomIts not an absolute A/B as I haven't got the exact models that Line 6 used but to me the Tele sounds good, the Strat doesn't sing enough and well I like the Variax Les Paul especially the Custom - although that may be something to do the BB pickups on my Gibson?

I've lots of profiles and difficulty in deciding which to keep and use - especially Marshall, Fenders and bass amps. So had a go at re-amping - there's a separate thread on this - and it seems to really help. You can create a soundclip on your DAW, record various profiles and then listen on loop at your leisure.

Neilps listening to all 25 together wasn't great

A song roughly played with some new profiles from Soundside from their Vintage Amps and Best Of bundles. All stock profiles recorded straight. http://soundcloud.com/neilconn…ashflood-southside-demo-2

Also search on the forum for a thread called "what are YOUR favorite clean profiles so far?" there are lots of suggestions there.
Neil

oops - indeed that is the one I meant...
-
Has anyone profiled one of these anniversary models, I can't see it on the Rig Exchange?
Neil
-
Guys, to save some time the ones on the Dropbox and the forum are the same. Neil
-
Having listened to the clips and drooled over the photos I've just bought the vintage pack and looking forward to all those lovely old Fenders and indeed the Vox sounds.. Neil
-
Yes we used the same mic in the same position for all as per the photo. Nothing complicated, straight into the Kemper, decent volume - these are the raw profiles. Best profiling I've done and great feedback from fellow Kempers.

The trick as ever is to match guitar to amp to player..
Zappledan,
If you want I could create soundclip and A/B Variax models against a Gibson Les Paul and a Strat if that would help?
Neil

Its taken longer to upload the details for 10 profiles/2 amps to the Rig Exchange than it did to makes the profiles..
Andy and Armin how do you do it?

A profiled the pair of hand made [in Essex] by amp guru Dennis Cornell, thanks to my mate Mr Pete Hotston for indulging me.
Both to be played with lashings of reverb and tremelo to suit, they've Fenderish cleans and some, with the TR20 in particular kicking some rock'n'roll arse...I've put up a quick soundclip here: http://soundcloud.com/neilconn…per-cornell-mp3-sept-2012
Neither has a master volume and I've captured the Romany TR20 with Eq in and out at varied output levels.
And finally the a cute photo of the them together - aaah [Blocked Image: http://sphotos-h.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc7/299437_4719022500283_635768531_n.jpg]
Look forward to the feedback and enjoy fellow tonehounds.
