Yeah. Makes sense.
Have you guys looked at monocase?? They do great cases, there might be something in their catolog that can store the KPA?

I keep seeing threads for makeshift alternatives to the kemper bag. Whats wrong with the KPA bag??
Maybe it's the version you had... I have a pair of KRK VXT6s and 'hyped' is the last thing I'd describe them as.
Sorry it was abit general. I was referring to the rokit series. Ive heard that the VXt6 are very good. I do need to get a good pair of monitors. Ive heard good things about Eve.
Regarding cheaper options, I looked into the iKey, it claims to do an awful lot for the money! Are there any SOS readers here? I missed the copy with the review of the Equator D5's, id love to know what the general verdict was considering their claims.
Shame. He was hilarious. The premier league was definitely more entertaining with his presence, if not for his football skills.
The full one sounds great
will check this out now. Not enough Fryette profiles. I had a little Memphis 30 for a few months. Beastly little amp
Sounds great.
Now you gotta share it
i dont know how anyone can mix on KRK's. There just too hyped. I sold my old pair but this was before i had the KPA
I like! Thanks
Display MoreGuys, you are recording way too loud. I've noticed this in a lot of Kemper soundcloud and youtube examples that those are actually clipped.
Do not aim for that 0dBFS, it is the best way to achieve what you're not looking for (terrible sound quality)
You should record ANY signal (Kemper or else) at approx -18dBFS as your Average Level (not peaks)
Also record in 24bit (plenty of dynamics/no need to "sacrifice" headroom)
Your interface/soundcard preamps and converters are designed to work at those values, and recording a hotter signal might start to distort the sound in the pres and then in the converters.
And don't forget to check your profile, it may actually be clipping in the Kemper itself (lots of downloaded user profiles are too ******* loud even "pro" profiles like TAF)
Cheers
Yes to this. I said -10db for the peaks but average of -18 is as close to a recommended standard as there is gonna be for gain staging
Yes brilliantly organised. I deleted everything but a handful of my own rigs and then uploaded the amp rigs section. Its much better than the factory presets and a great base to build off. Im getting my own presets better organised as a result. I will add to it systematically with the special rigs and so on. Im not usually a fan of loads of rigs but because its so well organised having 200+ isnt actually bothering me
Also, particularly enjoying some of the clean and light crunch profiles on here.
Studio:
The Slate Raven Touchscreen console looks mega. The pic of Stevie Wonder playing with it was pretty cool. Big fan of ogee but I thought Apogee's new stuff was a major let down!
Guitars:
Surprisingly, I like some of the Ibanez stuff, the 8 string TAM is lovely. There are actually 3 or 4 new model ibanez's that look nice. Curious about the Jackson 7 and 8 string dinky. Im a sucker for white guitars with maple fingerboards although ive not much experience with jackson. For some reason I quite like the Strandberg guitars. They just look so comfortable. I havent looked at Gibson and Fender, i expect its just the usual rehash of signature models of guitar hero's long forgotten.
Amps:
Fortin modded Randall Thrasher - hearing good things about that and the Fortin Marshall Profile is a KPA favourite for me. . Shame no new Boogies have been mentioned
personally I have struggled with The Amp Factory Mark IIC mod pack. Its only like £4 so its super cheap but it just doesnt sound very good and ive really tried to get something good from them. Until DJEMASS profiles his own i'm happy to stick to the free mark profiles. WIth some tweaking and matching with other cabs (not always the recto ones) you can get some really singing lead tones. I am anyway, havent touched my MarkIV for over a month now. That being said, the authentic profile could be amazing, hopefully the doc can work some magic
So basically I see no reason to leave headroom while tracking.
Whats your source for this? In fairness I don't understand all this float stuff your talking about but i've never read or heard from any good engineers which have seconded not leaving headroom when talking about proper gain staging.
Its less essential in the digital world but you want your tracks to be peaking at around -10db. That will give you the headroom you need for later on.
Do it! Profile that beast
The Periphery guys use Mackie HD1221's with their axe fx's live and they rave about them.
id second the folders idea. Just being able to organise by Amp brand would be more than helpful. But also clean/crunch/distortion/lead would be a nice option.
Im far less bothered about the editor. More important things to invest in at these stage i believe
Im sure that the Kemper guys wont want to alienate their initial adopters
