interesting...
however, I'd second @Michael_dk question about the signal you are sending.
can you try it with white noise or a steady signal like a sign wave and post these examples?

Good idea, another day should do
Try this....
Track output to Kemper Amp Send input...
Main L (mono) back to interface input to new track. Mute the output of the re-amped track to be safe or assign a no output to it.
you will have to compensate for a little latency by nudging the new track a bit to match

Great post and info!
I like the 2nd and 3rd pass. 1st one is a bit harsh and 4th seems to have too much of something...idk.
been reading this great discussion! Thanks for all the info. I use the main outs to record at 48 with either mic pres or the my UAD interface
Oh oh... The f bomb was used.
using the KPA as an interface will only bring up lots of more problems and issues. If you got 2k for an "recording" amp, why can't you invest in a good audio interface that also enables you to do so much more with your recordings?
as I said, it'd be a convenient feature but probably not sustainable.
I am happy to use it with my UA Apollo and enjoy the great sound of the KPA
Great playing! One of my favorite songs by satch:)
Of course! You can buy the remote separately from the KPA. My understanding is that for existing KPA owners, the remote can only be purchased from Kemper itself. If you buy new from a reseller like sweet water you can buy it bundled.
I can see how this feature could be attractive but it's also not really practical...if you run a studio, home, project or commercial, you have probably a very expensive AD/DA converter system in place, perhaps with a console, outboard gear and plug ins. Running an extra USB audio interface and changing your setup is not very helpful nor adding to the quality of the audio. Plus USB 2.0 is really not that great. For example the AxeFx loses connection all the time when used via editor or as I/O.Tbh, id never use my KPA as standalone I/O. I got my studio setup and it only complicate things.
awesome! Thanks! I got a few new ones out on guitar technique and a new one on the way later this year.
as for recording video, audio and syncing, I keep the audio from my camera, so that will help me sync the audio waves to mach the recorded tracks... iMovie etc is so good now that you get it close by dragging it in randomly almost.
another thing but that's a personal preference ...I record my performance and use the recorded audio. I don't do it the other way and fingersync. I know, everyone wants to be perfect but music is alive and mistakes are ok:)
Totally agree with Kempermaniac! Main outs L/R into your interface for stereo tracking or set to left out mono and use the monitor out for your CLR.
I record via Kemper into my UAD Apollo using Studio One. To film I use either a Zoom QHD3 when on the road or my Nikon SLR when at home. I import the material and synch it up via iMovie which is really great and comprehensive. I used to use FCX but when that was discontinued I used iMovie. Works great and is easy. If you want more super features you need to go FCP or Adobe Premier

Been having some issues too. Slow loading or no access at all via chrome.
There's a different feel to running a power amp with guitar cab vs a FRFR speaker.
I have the Atomic CLR powered wedge and also (sometimes) run the Los with my Bogner 2x12 extended cab with a Rocktron Velocity 100 (cab simulation off). I like both but prefer the CLR. I don't really know why tho.
Sounds great !
Headphones vs cabs or speaker will always sound different. What's missing is space for the different frequencies. Bass frequencies have especially need space as their wavelength are very long. So getting in ear is probably the worst while getting circumaural headphones or super-aurals could be slightly better. There's no replacement for a good pair of speakers with the correct listening distance.
I I don't think there is a FRFR headphone anyways...
Somebidy got got more info?
That's an interesting observation you made and although a guitar is never really in tune (and that alone drives me crazy) I'd say that the issue of thin or bad tone would be a deal breaker for me. I guess you can always have different setups and guitars for different purposes if you can afford it or can organize it in your live playing.
Powered or unpowered is not a question of better....same thing, only difference is that in the powered version you have a power amp section built in that enables you to drive a guitar cab without the use of an external power amp.
The powered version cost more than the unpowered version as well.
good luck and have fun with the kpa
I have profiled many amps of different makes and with different cabs (with an SM57 or e609) either direct or through s mic pre and I found that really understanding the amp and dialing in less gain is giving the profile more of an authentic feel and response. I find a lot of other profiles to be very "gainy" with not so much definition. And definition and amp character is
kinda what I look for in an amp. Mic position, room, mix (if you blend differebt mics) and a good basic amp setting that gives you a general sound the amp is capable of (not necessarily your sound) is a good way to start your process.
