I also play with in-ear monitoring and without a cabinet. I use a Moog Guitar when I need feedback, it sounds very beautiful and natural, and it rocks!
But the Moog guitar is expensive, has a very bad signal to noise ratio (the electronics hiss A LOT), and the pickups sound muffled.
For me it's just an expensive one-trick pony - ok, you have this cool moog filter, too...
