    Yes.Obviously pc is much better suited for live,giving FRFR a more natural (ampintheroom)-feel but this is not what I meant.

    For me everything helps which gives me instant tools to "free a good profile" from "the dirt"..no matter if it is some fizz or artifacts or whatever.Ofcourse you can do a lot "with tweaking" specially while mixing but again..this is not what I meant.The better the basic sound is the less you have to tweak it afterwards,and on the other side it becomes much easier to make it sound "even better" while doing the rough mix..some features on the kpa can help a lot to give you a "natural tube rig" sound from the very beginning without to get instantly into a more complex "tweaking mode".first of all I like as much "good,natural" basic sounds as I can get,no matter if it is about drums,guitars or voacls..the "tweaking" comes much later and includes the "whole big picture" as you surely will agree with me.

    I guess most of us would not push the record button recording a great sounding marshall while they hear phase issues or fizz caused by wrong mic position etc..

    The naked truth is that we dont have much information beyond "pure cab removes artifacts"-style of explanations.Till yet I did not had the time to figure out 100% how pure cab can help me ie recordings therefore my "request" for more knowledge sharing on this issue.At least there are some profiles which I like to use with pure cab for recordings.In a way @Mattfig above has explained.Instead of "tweaking"(EQs,compressors & OD/DIST-pedals) I like to use the kpa as a tool which instantly "delivers" snapshots of tube rigs for a "feel" I am searching for while my thinking is already on the arrangement on a song..no time for tweaking myself into oblivion,loosing the "essence" which is to "catch" this special idea and the flow of songwriting.I strongly believe that an "instantly" fitting (to your special needs at a given moment) profile delivers the best results and features like "definition" or "pure cab"(sometimes even "space") should be the first things to check out optimizing a nice profile instantly before tweaking to much EQs and fx..just like you would use an real rig,knowing the "basic character" of a tube amp,choosing quickly a cab which fits to this special character for a certain "idea" for a certain style of sound.

    I never tweaked any tube amp that much.I know how my tube amps sound no matter what I can do with the EQs which are on most tube amps just a "minor bonus".Switches like "mid boost" play a much bigger role for many (if not most) tube amps..The right cab,the right mic and the right micing always played a much bigger role for my needs.Pure cab is all about the above( as fas as I understood).

    Indeed this issue deserves a lot more of "exchange of experiences"/knowledge sharing..

    I dont use pure cab so much during recordings anymore while it is imo great for certain profilers and some of their profiles.Indeed the "approach" of how you gonna mic the cab (during the profiling process)plays a huge/decisive role if you need afterwards pure cab and to what degree..no matter if clean/crunch or high gain.Live is a different issue imo.I like to use pure cab for many british style crunch profiles to get control of the artifacts in the higher freqs(sm57 close micing kind of things).Not a big fan of using pure cab with "open fender style" break up sounds..or vox/matchless style of medium gain profiles..but again..this is for live..

    Complex issue..

    I would like to hear more experiences from guys who use pure cab for their recordings.

    Where;

    There..

    You can find "Fractal audio" on AxeFx homepage and a visit on the line6 homepage will show you just "Line6.com" (well yes..talking about the fastfood restaurants selling everything for everyone)..

    It is all about supply.In this case the offer is clear.Everything else is a bonus.

    A typical Japanese restaurant is not made for that purpose when it comes to food that is wholly irrelevant to Japan.

    ahh..very good..we are getting close finally..

    The kemper amp is not made for any other purpose than having many,many different tube amps at your feet.An editor is (better said was..untill the delays) completely irrelevant to having many,many different tube amps in one box.

    Keep it up phile mou..you´re on the way..

    edited

    yes..round and round we go..

    @acroberts

    I am so sad that I have to repeat myself here (specially) in this thread over and over again..but as @lespauled already has said..nice 80s vid btw..anyway..

    If the "supply" side decides to enhance their offers the whole game ofcourse change my friend.I mean I am not the best friend of "casino-capitalism" and "beggar thy neighbor"-neoliberalism but I always liked the idea of "free trade" when it comes to inovative small & medium size companies.

    If a few guys sitting in their cramped laboratory decide that "it is time to enhance their product" outside of their programmed and fixed (obviously since years,since the beginning of the development) "development path" they followed stubbornly with great vision all over the last years..it is obviously a big bonus if they want to listen to their customers within a reasonable level.

    We all(in this thread) are at the verge of "grasping" that the kempers have a "plan" which they follow no matter what.The editor might not have been part of this "plan" untill latest fx-upgrades.I dont know this.Just guessing around.But I believe I can see the way the kempers would like to develop their product with limited resources ie manpower.Within a certain philosophy about their product.

    As I said.It is the first time I see a certain group of customers acting as simple trade rules,working for many centuries are not working anymore.

    Sorry for my stupid post above but I could not find a better example.Nobody will go for dinner to a restaurent which does not offer the dish you want.Nobody will ignore the menu at the entrance,nobody will ignore the gentle guys from asia smiling at you and then ordering an italian pizza while they hand you the chopsticks with the asian looking letters on them....will you;

    Yes.It is all about "supply & demand"..lets keep it like this.Starting with the first.Followed by the latter.Not the other side round..

    Why not;Because me personally would never go to a restaurant which offers "for everyone".. asian,italian,mexican & arabian food all at once with offers like "pay one,take two"..my stomach does not stand this anymore.
    <X

    I read the manual. I am also a software engineer.When one thing is displayed on my rig manager, and another on the device, this is what us grown ups call a bug.

    Since the words "supply & demand" have fallen often in this thread..

    In our case the producer never made the "supply".It is ofcourse okay to make a "demand"(in this case a request) after the supply(an offer) but obviously the producer has (better siad still has untill the editor appears) a special product philosophy which never included an offer for the thing here in demand.

    This is what I dont understand anymore with this thread.

    The "bug" would be if the producer offers something and does not deliver after he promised to do so.This is not the case here.In fact I cant remember that I saw this kind of making a special "demand" with any other product so far.If this is not a bug in the understanding how simple trade works..what else could be indeed a bug then;

    @unclemar

    While I agree I would like to ad that the player needs his"emotional sonic home" to play for the crowd to "send his vibes" to them..

    :D

    The kemperhas this ability.It has definetly "spirit" like a tube rig under "perfect conditions"(temperature of tubes,right cab,working pedals,intact batteries & cables etc)..

    And while we talk about this and I am an evil fanboy I would ofcourse like to see the freedom fighters and warriors of light(shining from the holy tubes) talking also about the plenty "shortcomings" and maybe even "frustration" with using tube rigs..

    I mean..there are always two sides of the coin,no;

    In 99% of checking high gain profiles I immidiatly lower definition.Then presence.Very often I turn up some "treble" to get me some "air" I lost through the first two steps..if the profile still does not sound good I dont try to tweak it any further.Next.

    @alfi 27

    I dont play metal anymore but "I grew up" living my first live-/and studio experiences in the late 80s/early 90s..when everyone "had to" play modified JCMs and Mesa-amps..I think I know what you are looking for..

    So,go to the RE and look out for @R.U.serious & @FastRedPonyCar..both guys did a lot of "spirit of modern hardrock & classic/hair metal"-stuff.Actually I use their profiles almost exclusivly when ever my late 80s custom made ESP screams for some love and I get bored with long periods of low-/medium gain Strat-/LesPaul playing.Their profiles cost nothing and are really good.

    Different kind of experiences are a good thing.. :thumbup:

    If you really like to go through thousands and thousands of rigs and "test" them all once and the next day..be my guest..I would just recommend not to forget to play your guitar.. ;)

    greetings

    Quote

    But I really have to add something: Give every profile at least a SECOND CHANCE, on another day! Judgement of a rig today can be totally changed in a week or next day (same guitar, but with a pair of fresh ears).

    With all due respect but here I would disagree..

    For all guys comming from tube rigs and try hard to make the "change" to the profiler/frfr thing I would rather recommend the opposite:Dont try to make a profile sound good to your ears if there is no "love on the first sight"-thing going on..move on quickly untill you find a profile which got at least something you really really love..and then yes,check this profile again on the next day with fresh ears.

    Dont tweak to much,if a profile does not "make you play" despite it has in the very beginning and without any tweaking fizz or to much bass or whatever then just leave it alone.The kemper is not for this.

    Even when our ears are not fresh and our psychology is down (very very underestimated issue ie "sound") our ears "know" what we like.Specially if the guitarist is playing for years.

    Tweak only the profiles which "have it" from the very beginning.Actually one of the biggest mistakes a lot of people do with their profiler.Always in my opinion ofcourse.. ;)

    I said this a long time ago and I am not happy to repeat this:

    Kemper did everything possible to remain professional and serious.From top quality for a years long stable price without hardware upgrades which make first versions obsolete to trying to listen to all their costumers requests..(like me and others who had the request for loop-level control).And many things more.No need to list them all.

    There will be a good reason why we must wait for the editor.Never question the good will of someone who has proven to be a fair buisness counterpart!Specially when this counterpart has NEVER promised this editor dear folks..

    Sorry for my irony in the previous posts.

    @MonkeyMan

    Man..sad to hear about your long term injury..

    Sorry for the question:Have you ever been to a specialist;I mean there are some specialists arm-hand-finger medics/surgeons out there.You should have no problem to find even one which is a specialist for musicians.
    Sure you have been already but I just want to be sure.If not..these guys can help!

    As for the frets..sure high frets/scalloped will help but I believe strongly that you need to "build up strenght" again with your hands.

    Two songs,part of my life:"Free falling" with18.."Into the great wide open.." with 20..intense memories..

    RIP to another giant gone.

    Did not want to chime in again but...

    Who said that he does not need an editor;

    99% of the participants in this thread have clearly declared that they would like to have an editor.

    Only because most of us dont take hostages (like this whole forum) or announce our forthcoming suicide (like selling the kpa,getting L6 stuff) does not mean that we dont like everything which could make things easier.
