I tend to have a separate patch which will generally have a bit more delay and mid boost and the volume set to give me 4db across the board. I do have some compression on the desk though to flatten out any inconsistencies across patches so it probably ends up at about 3db FOH.

Are you saying that you lock a compressor, which is shared by every rig, to level out dynamics across all your rigs? That sounds compelling. Do you do this before or after the preamp stage?

The problem with using the guitar volume knob, especially for boost, is that it's incredibly difficult (impossible?) to be truly consistent with it, and it will drive FOH engineer crazy. When dealing with decibels of volume in your signal, precision and consistency is essential in a live setting, otherwise your guitar is at risk of either suddenly fading/disappearing under the mix or shouting over the mix, unpredictably. Sound engineers hate that, and it isn't particularly pleasing to the audience... or bandmates.... or me, heh. I have just gotten my Kemper and also having trouble determining the best way to do lead boost, as well, but I am inclined to set up and lock a persistent post-pre boost or eq that I can engage, at will, as previously mentioned. Adding additional (physical) stomps into the loop or in front of the Kemper also doesn't appeal to me, because I got a Kemper to simplify my rig and eliminate complexity, and adding additional gear to mix defies that goal. Changing the profile/amp volume also doesn't appeal to me, either.

I've completely gone away from stereo after many years trying to get it right at every show. It's great for that one guy standing in that one right spot in the house, the rest only get half my chorus, delay, etc, until 20 more people show up, then it's some other guy in a different spot. I could never find Waldo either or maybe my eyes just got tired. Go mono and go back to relaxing before shows lol.

    Thanks for the additional perspective!

I send stereo from XLR main outputs to mixer during rehearsal, and we wear headphones during rehearsal, with no amps. I was thinking about going with mono signal to FOH for the first show, because having to mix two channels might be needlessly complex for FOH engineer. Thoughts? Is anyone else running stereo live? I'm doing my first Kemper show one a week from tomorrow.

For monitoring the Kemper I picked up Samson XP112 powered speaker for $99, on clearance, at Fryes. I did have a DXR15, but returned it, because I felt like it was overkill, although it did sound very nice. I listened to all the powered speakers in a live gear room at Guitar Center before originally choosing the Yamaha that I purchased and later returned. Honestly, the Samson sounds every bit as beefy and awesome to me with the Kemper, and I don't have buyers' remorse about the $700 monitor any more. I really just need a decent sounding FRFR to monitor my guitar, and don't need an 1100 watt audiophile-class PA cabinet to accomplish that.

The XP112 as has a single XLR thru output. which I was planning to connect to the board for FOH, rather than connecting directly to the Kemper, which is the other reason I was leaning towards mono for live.

    Quote from TheWolf2103: “Kemperians,
Found this on YouTube - this may develop into something interesting to follow <img src="http://www.kemper-amps.com/forum/wcf/images/smilies/smile.png" alt=":)" /> ” Looks like Scott has had to rename his channel to &quot;Toaster Tips TV&quot; - in case anyone tries to search for Kemper TV, it's…

I'll leave the plastic on the rack unit and controller until I'm finished assembling the final bits... fabricating cage for wireless, so Kemper will come out of rack at least one more time... completing patch bay, waiting on Trailer Trash pedalboard and 2nd spring-loaded Mission pedal. Once everything is finally gathered and assembled the plastic peeling ceremony will commence.

Scott's previous G System videos lead me to buying the Kemper. I was all set to buy a G System to use with my Marshall DSL and JCM 800 amps and was studying his G System video series. When I got to the last G System vid Scott announced he was selling it and buying Kemper. I had noodled with a Kemper before at my buddy's studio, but that was two years ago and I didn't realize the live potential. Now that I have the Kemper, I love it! Selling all my amps. Also, based on the depth of Scott's G System series, the Kemper Profiler TV should be a great resource for Kemper users.
