Thanks Matt.
Just Dl'd and will feed back.

Thanks. Will give them a go tonight!

I agree but it helped me as when I'm playing I find it a little hard to be impartial and objective
Once I hit something killer the hours disappear and I never get to the end of the profiles list!

Amp in a room means the sound you hear is the sound coming directly out of the cab. The KPA is a profile and hence it is the sound of the cab + mic(s) + mic preamp + speaker. This is the sound of every recorded instrument i.e. every guitar sound you ever heard on a recording and the sound of a guitar coming out of a PA.
It's different in a number of ways;
Every component in the recording chain influences the sound to some extent
A mi'c speaker cabinet is 'spotlight' on the cab sound (not the whole thing). Mic placement has a large bearing on the recorded sound
If you're used to the sound of your amp in a room then it will sound and feel a little different. It does however sound like the signal your audience will hear (assuming you're running through a PA when you play) or the tone you would get when recording.
I've never had an issue personally but some people do.
The advantages of FRFR;
You can take full advantage of the KPA profiles - if you run through a conventional cab then this is a significant contributor to the overall tone. I did this for a while but moved away as the profiles took on the sonic signature of the cab too much
You know (and can control to a certain extent) the sound your audience will hear.
I went to FRFR and have never looked back but you have to choose carefully as all FRFR are not equal. I went for a concentric driver based cab as this just sounded more natural to me.
Hope that helps,
Si
Hi,
So you've downloaded your new pack with gazillions of profiles and now you've got to go through the process of auditioning to select those that are going to be your keepers.
If you're a Kemper Remote user then the looper is your friend!
Set the looper position to pre and record some stuff, go to browse mode and then select away remembering to mark rigs as 'favourite' for any rigs you want to come back to later!
Hope this helps.

First guitar related purchase of 2018 isn't gear related...
Going to the Guthrie Govan Masterclass in London - can't wait!

Phil,
On the Stomps/FX question are you aware that you can LOCK on the KPA? If you're happy with your settings for both (and have a desire for them to apply to all rigs) then just lock them. Just hold the stomps/fx button and press LOCK.
There's no level meter in the KPA.
As you're digging deep (and on a related theme) are you aware of the ability to create input presets (clean/dist sense) for your individual guitars and lock them per mode? Once you're happy with the dist sense setting create an input preset for the guitar and then you can unlock - select - lock again when you change instrument. Worth remembering this is per mode i.e. you have to lock it both Browse & Perform.
Hope this helps.

Whilst there are a couple of things that would be nice they are more the icing on the cake for me. If nothing changes then I won't be loosing any sleep!
Hi,
Welcome & enjoy!
Simon
Hi all,
Much as I love the power and immediacy of the virtual world I miss the fact that I never get to speak/share this great piece of kit with others..
In my time as a KPA user I've only managed to converse face to face with one other person who uses one (and that was to swap my rack for his toaster!).
Would anyone be interested in getting together at some point in the year if I could organise a venue and facilities? I know distance/time is always an issue but something over a weekend could work and it would be a hoot. I have access to a studio in Hertfordshire with great transport links, cheap local guest houses and more pubs than you could shake a stick at!
Let me know if there's any interest and we can take it further..
Si
Welcome & enjoy!
Welcome Phil.
Great read through the journey to date!
Happy tweaking!

Ok - had a quick run through today. These are fantastic!
Off to lose myself again for a few hours

Bandwidth and frequency parameters are really useful for tuning the verb and getting it to sit in the right space.
Had to do a fair bit of digging around the reverb parameters before I understood everything but I actually think they are better than people make out on occassion and as Meeambobo demonstrated, when coupled with delay you can work some serious magic!

Just pushed the button on the Friedman profiles and this is my first foray into Bert's profiles so looking forward to having a play over the weekend.

You are correct about the XiTone - third party suppliers but design & construction is Mick and testing/validation/tuning is Michael.
Can't imagine many products in the modern world are manufactured without a significant supply chain of components. Adam Smith made a pretty good case for specialization a long time ago
