Is the noise gate in play at all?

Hmm. Seems that for the dedicated expression inputs, the KPA requires momentary switches, so you'd have to click once for "on" and once for "off." That's going to be cumbersome. Maybe it's possible somehow with a MIDI control? I don't have a way to test that.

It's the effect at 7:29?

Do you have a link to a good example of this sound? It might be possible...

Just played through them all. Very very nice! I've found I really gravitate toward the Supro stuff on RE and in packs. These have a really nice sparkle and present feel to them. Great for recording. Straight to my favorites!

The blending IR idea is cool. Thanks DB!

I've tried converting some impulse responses meant for convolution reverbs and using them as Cabs, and it does seem to extract the frequency response characteristics while ignoring the time response. Meaning, it colors the sound but there's no perceivable decay or "tail." But, you can do really cool stuff using that idea...I've found some IRs for acoustic guitar and dobro that really work well for making acoustic instruments sound more realistic when played with a pickup.

Samples sound fantastic!

Correct, DIRECT OUTPUT/SEND of the Profiler to the guitar input of the Aura Spectrum.
For the return, I'd go with the XLR since it's balanced, but the 1/4" should work as well.

I've wondered about this. Impulse responses can capture the time and frequency response of a system, for instance a concert hall, and reproduce them in software like convolution reverb. Cool. The KPA can use IRs as Cabs...also cool. My understanding is that when functioning as a Cab, you're getting the frequency response of the IR but not the time response. Basically it's an extremely detailed EQ. Cool.
My question is, how "long" is the IR/Cab once it's in the Kemper? Is there any time response at all, or is it pretty much zero? Considering how small and lightweight profile files are, I'm guessing pretty short.

Budget? A 57 will still work fine for bass, but you might need to put it a little closer to the speaker. Something like a Heil PR40 could work. AKG 214 or Cascade Fathead....lots of options.

An SM57 is hard to beat for a cheaper mic. I'm sure there are tons of videos on YouTube about mic placement, but really it's about trial and error and careful listening/adjusting. Often a good starting point is about halfway between the middle of the speaker cone and the edge of the speaker.

This may be obvious, but make sure you're double-clicking the rigs in Rig Manager. A headphone icon should appear next to the rig title to show that it's loaded in preview mode on the KPA. From there you can use the arrow keys to move up and down a rig list, and the headphone icon will follow. More than once I've thought I was in preview mode when I wasn't!

Would love to hear side by side comparisons of what you're heading. Any way you can get the Kemper and Helix in the same room and record yourself playing through both with the same guitar? Or even profile a Helix setting you like and compare those?

Gotcha, that makes sense.

Massdrop does a Koss Porta Pro model as well: https://www.massdrop.com/buy/m…ss-porta-pro-x-headphones
Might try a pair myself!
