If you go to the "Sultans" preset and play around with it a bit, you might get where you want to be with a little tweaking.

I was in the same position as you. Wanted an Axe, ignored the Kemper. Was going to make the decision in late June. Finally listened to both under the same conditions with good speakers. Changed my mind completely, went with the Kemper, never reconsidered or thought I made a mistake.
There is another thread here where someone asked about how easy it is to tweak sounds. Everything on the KPA is right in front of you. Twist some knobs, get a different sound. Simple as can be. Want to get more complex? Yeah, you can do that too. On another forum someone was complaining that the Kemper was not "intuitive." I couldn't disagree more. Wanted to use an expression pedal and, no manuals, found where I needed to be and in a flash it was set up. If that isn't intuitive, nothing is.

What is "turkey foil"?

To answer a question of the OP, after spending two years waiting for Axe Fx to come out with FW 10, which I felt was a game changer, I bought the KPA instead. It became my opinion that with the Axe I would spend too much time diggng into menus trying to tweak the right sound. Not saying that can't be fun, but, let's go to last Satyrday. Suddenly found that I needed five new sounds. Went to the KPA and, luckily for me, there was already one in there that was dead on. One down, four to go. I then found another that, by it's name, was going to be like another sound I needed. It wasn't quite right for me, but, in less than a minute ir two, I had it perfect. As for the other three sounds, they were all based on a Fender Twin. Went to that, p,ayed with the eq and had the next one. Changed the eq and had the fourth. The fifthe required some oedals and banged that right out. All in less than 15 minutes. Didn't have to dig deep into menus. And everyone agreed it sounded great. It took me longer to enter the new names than to twek the sounds. Granted, not the most difficult assignment, but about all I did was twist ome knobs. Couldn't have been simpler and, for me, was an important selling point for the KPA.

The real question is can you get the sound you are looking for out of the equipment you are using. Most amps can't cover every sound you may need. With the wide array of amp sounds in the Kemper, and it's flexibility, the answer is that whatever you're looking for is in there. A little tweak here, a little tweak there and you've got it. Does it mean you have to give up your tube amps? No. Does it mean you might want to? Maybe. I still have several tube amps but, once I get them profiled, maybe I won't have them anymore.

Les wasn't just a great guitar player and designer of the guitar that bears his name. He was an even more amazing inventor. Double tracking? Echo?

So what happened? Thought it was going to be September?
Anyway, cool. Hope you have a great time with it.

If you go to Sweetwater's site and actually click on "Add to cart" you will find that they only have the powerhead in stock. OP ordered a lunchbox.

Why not check what another dealer says? Maybe it's Kemper, maybe Sweetwater has you further down the line than expected?

Nothing. Works for me.

What troynova says makes sense to me. I recently chose to buy the non-powered KPA and have run it through the power amp section of tubes amps through an Avatar cab. Sounds great that way. Just remember to turn off the cab sims or it will sound muffled.

Bought mine at American Musical Supply recently but see they're backordered now. Sweetwater has them in black or white.

Congrats on your wise purchase. I wouldn't speak too loudly about it on TGP, if you you know what I mean. Might want to rethink that screen name, although you'll fool everyone listening to you that there really are glowing tubes in the KPA.

Glad to see it arrived early. Enjoy.

Sold my AI amp before I got the KPA, but, I used to use it with a SansAmp PSA 1.1 and, if you go through the effects loop bypassing the preamp, it gave no coloration at all in that setting.

Now that's nice.

Plug in and play. The rest will happen as if by magic.
