    Hi ! I just installed Rig manager on my Mac ( 10.9.4, i7 2.66, 8 go ram) and I'm having troubles.

    When I first synced up the profiler, only 1000 synced. Before that, the kemper was showing 1020 rigs. Also, I had to quit RM and Reopen it so it could finish the syncing ( It was stuck at 931 rigs ).

    The other bug I'm experiencing is with the inspector tool. Whenever I'm changing a rig instruments to bass, the inspectors lags on this rig and then quit unexpectedly.
    Am I the only one? I have not been on the forum for awhile so sorry If the problem has already been reported.

    -Max

    Hi ! so I have a motu audio express. For outputs, it has main outs, line outs, spdif out and finally a stereo headphone out.
    I have a kemper, and also a roland td9 drum set. I would like to try to push to the extreme the '' Silent musicians '' idea by jamming at my apartment with my friend on the drums. I would be using a VST plugin for the drum, such as addictive drums or SteveSlate drums and would like 2 different mix for the drummer and for myself ( guitar/kemper )

    What is the best way to achieve this ? With a headphone amp ? How would this work ?

    Or is there a way to send the complete mix to the kemper via the main outs and have one pair of headphones on the kemper, the other on the audio interface ?

    Thanks!

    Ok, so I finally had the time to try with a '' speaker emulator '' from my daw and with a different amp...

    Chain
    1.Guitar--->kemper input
    2.Kemper send--> Marshall JMP
    3. Marshall Jmp Speaker out---> HotPlate in(hotplate is set to LOAD)
    4. Hotplate line out---->motu audio express line in 1.
    5. Motu Line in--->Daw-Redwirez impulse (insert ) ---> Motu line out1
    At this point, everything sounds great with the speaker IR's from redwirez when I listen through the Motu main outs.
    6. Line out, no clipping --- >kemper return

    So then I start profiling. I'm now listening through the kemper headphone output. I try to adjust the return level the best I can. When I listen to the reference amp, there is now a high pitch buzz, around 8k. It is constant and I can clearly hear it. When I take the same signal that's coming from the motu, plug my headphones in, there's nothing unsual. There's also alot more noise ( crackling, etc.) when listening through the kemper.

    I go ahead and profile anyway. The result is not that bad... It actually sounds good, but sounds far from the reference amp.
    I do the same thing, but cranking the gain a little bit more... This resulted in a weird squeal coming out of the kemper ( through headphones, again) ...a real high squeal that made me back off the gain of the amp again...I started to think it was the amp.

    So I try the exact same thing, same chain. But I use a hiwatt custom 100, set to a clean setting.
    The result is again not that far clean setting is clean setting... But there is now 10 times more noise/crackling from the kemper profile. I decide to crank the preamp of the hiwatt to have a crunch profile... Same horrible squeal that I had with the marshall..
    After that, I decided to profile the hiwatt with a pedal in front of it : Megalith delta, a high gain pedal.
    It was absolutely impossible, the kemper squealed again as soon as there were gain coming from the amp/pedal.

    From logic, I know its not the hotplate, since it works fine in a DAW with the interface and sounds good with the speaker emulator from redwirez.
    I also know it's not the interface, since it ''delivers'' to the daw and out of the daw perfectly, tested.
    I also know it's not just the Marshall, since I also tried with the hiwatt....
    Now, am I doing something wrong ?...I guess I should try with something more simple like a torpedo live. But I really can't figure whats wrong with what I'm doing now.

    Is it possible that the kemper's return is not working correctly ?
    At this point I simply don't know.

    I'll take the time to actually mic everything, but it will have to be at low volume, and so not at the settings I want to profile my amps, since I live in an appartment

    Hi all ! It seems there not so many bad cat profiles. Only of the bad cat hot cat 30.
    Would it be possible for anyone to profile a bad cat lynx ? I had the amp before I bought the kemper. But, when it arrived, it was a mess due to ups breaking the amp in the shipping. The amp was buzzing and bleeding from channel, making pops,etc. I could not justify to have paid the price I paid. So, I returned the amp and bought a kemper.

    However, I loved the tone of the lynx, clean and hi-gain. I miss this amp and was wondering if anyone on here had it so they can profile it !
    I already requested this to andy on his forum, but his first reply was that they are hard to get for the moment. ( They have to be custom built directly from the company ).

    Thank you
    -Max

    Hey, so I deleted what I did and went through the whole process again. But this time, I only edited the 3 amps that were missing since my kemper already had all the other ones. I did the exact same thing, but this time it copied the 3 last amps. So it worked, I don't know why it did not work the first time lol. Anyway thanks for the help ! =)

    BTW what are you using that DI profile with? poweramp+cabinet?

    Yes, for that and maybe to try and record with different cab impulses later on. Anyway thanks for your advice, I don't have a cab simulator though so I'll try to find that. The torpedo is cool but is expensive, any ideas ?

    Actually it's not. The speaker is a nonlinear load. I made many DI profiles (which all turned out quite good) - always got better results with cab + DI box then when I just used a dummy load.

    Ok, so if I plug the cab and turn off all attenuation, now it's acting exactly like a d.i between speaker and amp, right ? It will give the non-linear load to the amp and therefore the line signal will be acting more like a d.i signal...I'll try that when nobody's home.

    Again, I'm not complaining that the profile doesn't sound like the actual amp in a cab...
    I'm asking if it's normal that the profiling process does not achieve what the reference amp sounds like in the kemper. Linear or non-linear load, I thought the kemper was supposed to replicate the sound it receives from the return input.

    After reading a few forums, I noted that a lot of people were having this similar problem. When '' cab '' is engaged, the sound will be really similar. But when you turn off '' cab '' the reference/profile are not really close anymore.

    I have never heard any amp that sounded better if you crank it and then attenuate it back. Speaker compression due to high load is a different thing but power amp distortion on its own is one othose great myths everyone is aiming for until they finally hear it... If it really sounds so damn awesome why would anybody build an amp with more than 10 or 20 watts? One of the first amps with integrated power brakes got a huge amount of users stating that their amp seems to be broken

    My jmp actually sounds better when the master volume is around 4-5-6. It has to do with speaker saturation, but also with the power amp being cranked a little ( it always sounds better around 4-5-6, even when direct recording ).

    Yes, this would be an explanation.It's exactly what's going on. No, theres no cab simulation on a hotplate. It's really only the sound of the preamp + sound of the poweramp.

    The kemper sound is similar, but not even close to '' exactly the same ''.

    I
    guess you're right about kemper not beeing able to capture the sound without cab simulation. But then how did everyone else are able to profile preamps with the d.i's ?

    Thats what I'm trying to say haha. The hotplate is the same thing as a d.i when taking the line out. It takes the signal and put it into a line level, which is exactly what a direct box does.

    The signal that the kemper receives ( the reference amp ) is perfectly fine ( it is monitored via the kemper, via the headphones ) So the signal chain is alright. What is weird, is that when it's profiling, the '' kemper amp sound '' that is supposed to be identical to the '' reference sound '' is not.

    There's not attenuation with the hotplate going on, that's only for the speaker out on the hotplate, which is not even being used.

    The hotplate is an attenuator, but is also a dummy load ( which replaces the cabs speakers resistance by another resistor ). A speaker would be require just to not break the amp, no ? and in this case would not be require...

    Doing the d.i thing with the hotplate is the same as with doing it with a direct box and speaker, it takes the amp signal and converts it into an ajustable line level signal. That's what I want to profile. Again, the reference amp signal is right, but the kemper signal after profiling is nothing near the reference amp signal even after refining...
