Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin

  • Hi All.

Just got my Kemper profiling amp (powerhead). (It's hooked to a Marshal 1960). I play a Strat, American Deluxe.
    And it's in my office!!

    Can anyone help me.

I need a profile for playing The Rolling Stones 19th Nervous Breakdown and anther for playing Led Zeppelin's The Ocean.

    What should I get?

    Thanks.

In their early days the Stones played Vox AC 30s. There are many good profiles available, my personal favourite being the treble boost AC30 from the factory rigs and the '64 AC30 copper top from theampfactory.com.

As far as Zep goes it's impossible to say what Page used in the Studio. He is famous for using supro amps although nobody knows for sure which type exactely. The amp factory has some supro profiles you might want to check them out.

Having said that, you should consider getting a different guitar if you are really into Stones and Zep. You won't get even in the ballpark with a strat. Keith played a Epiphone Casino back then and a Les Paul (he was one of the first burst-owners in England). Page played a Les Paul as well and an occasional Telecaster. For the sounds you chasing the guitar is more critical than the amp.

  • Amongst others Jimi Page used 2 Petersburg P-100 at the London concert. This is a nice amp and very rare. I have one for sale if anybody is interested. Also uploaded profiles of this amp. Amp is located in germany.

  • Thanks for all the great responses, I really appreciate it.
Has anyone ever made a list that relates Kemper Profiles to individual songs and artists?
Seems like pretty good idea. If not, maybe we could all work together to create a list on Google docs or something.
