Adding Guitar Feedback While Profiling Idea

  • I had an idea that I wanted to run by you guys. I don't want to hurt my Kemper.

What if you were using a mixer for the mic preamp while profiling. On another channel you plugged in a guitar with the strings dampened and put it close to the amp and mixed that signal into the return signal to the Kemper. Would this add more of that standing in front of your loud amp feedback sustain into the profile? Or would it make the profiling process fail because of the variation to the test signals?

I assume that the guitar input on the Kemper is cut off while the profiling signals are happening.

  • I can't see where it would hurt. It may result in the amp being eq'd to produce peaks in the same range as the guitar. You could capo to a particular fret to raise/lower the resonant frequency and play with the amount of damping. It may do nothing but would be easy to find out.
