For anyone who ever wants to control patch changes from Reaper in the mannor that my band do, aka:
One project, with all songs in, songs separated by markers. Click gets sent to drummer, bank change message just before song starts, and then various changes within songs. (some songs require an exact change, for eg from clean to distortion on beat one of the song)
There was a change in Reaper 4.31 (November 2012!) that did the following:
"+ MIDI: bring track CC/PC up to date from earlier items when seeking"
The consequence of this ruins things for me and i'm forced to use Reaper 4.30. What happens is, Reaper will "remember" the last bank change message.
For eg:
Song 1 marker starts at 3 seconds, bank change at 5 seconds.
Song 2 marker starts at 1 minute. Bank change message for song 2 at 1 min 2 secs.
When playing from song 2s marker, Reaper will first send bank change message for song 1, then at 1 min 2 secs point send the marker for song 2.
For some people this might not even be a problem, but it is for us
