"strange" way to make a profile...

  • Years ago I read about a way to record a guitar sound in studio...and I saw using this way in studio too...
This way is to place some stringed instrument (acoustic guitar, a piano with the right pedal enabled so that the strings are free to vibrate etc...) near the amp and use two (or more) mics... Closed mic for the speaker cab and ambience mic(s) to capture the simpathetic vibe of the acoustic stringed instrument to have a richer harmonic global tone... Question is: does anybody have used this way to profile some amp?
