MIDI pedal necessary

  • My tone that I chase is very similar to the likes or SRV to John Mayer's bluesy stuff. Usually done by clean amp, with a clean boost, blues breaker, then tube screamer for solos. My question would be when adding the tube screamer for solos would that would require the use of MIDI pedal? $600 seems steep when all I want to do is kick on the tube screamer for solos. I am sure the answer is "yes, you idiot" LOL. I just play at home and want to get away from my Fender Mustang amp and not have to get into tube amps where I will never get it loud enough for it to sound good.

  • You can add the Kemper's Tube Screamer into a Kemper Effects Slot.

An inexpensive dual footswitch can be connected to the back of the KPA (Example: Boss FS-6).
The switch can be used to turn the Effects slot on and off.

AN IMPORTANT NOTE: That kind of guitar sound has the tube screamer turned on all the time, not just for solos.

The guitarists turn their guitar volume down for chords, and turn the guitar volume up for solos.

  • Yep, save some money, don't use any pedals ;)
