problems using KPA with Liquid Foot 12+

hi!
i've had my LF12+ for a few years and was successfully using it with my axe fx 2. i've since sold the axe fx and now have a brand new KPA rack. i'm having a heck of a time trying to get these two units to work together. i had major issues with the editor crashing when trying to use the automatic programming wizard. i was eventually successful when i narrowed the presets down to 5 to be loaded.

i spent the entire day trying to sync both units and have only had a few minor successes. i was able to get the LF12+ to turn on and off the individual effects in the KPA but the on/off/bypass states aren't correctly loading into the 12+. i'm also seeing some weird names for some of the individual effects. i'm not sure why this is happening.

here's my biggest frustration: i want buttons 1 and 5 to be able to scroll through my presets on the KPA. 1 should scroll down and 5 should scroll up. i had this working on the axe fx 2 flawlessly but it seems like i can't get it to work on the KPA. right now, the LF12+ stays on preset 003 while it looks like it's scrolling through presets under the main preset name and number. also, it's not changing the presets on the KPA (i'm in browser mode). i've included 3 photos because it's hard to explain. i've spent about 8 hours today trying to adjust this on the editor but nothing is working.

I don't have a LF12+,so this is just a guess:

Is the LF sending MIDI Program Changes to the Kemper on the same Midi Channel?
If either unit is in "OMNI" mode, set them both to the same MIDI channel, instead.

Please tell us the version of the editor und the version of your LF-firmware. Do you use 2 midi cables?

The midi channel on both the liquid foot and the KPA are set for channel 1. i'm using 2 midi cables to connect the KPA to the liquid foot and I'm using the newest liquid foot firmware (4.20) and the latest version of the editor (4.21)

Where are you from? Did you ask the LF forum or Jeff?

EDIT: I see. You did. I think you should wait for an answer over there. If you don´t get one, you could send me you LF file and I could try it on my 12+.

I have a 12+ controlling my Kemper and it works great, I can send you an export from my liquid foot and you can compare to see what is different etc..

just to be clear- looking at the LF editor on the preset page. command programming box in the middle of the screen. these should be MIDI PC commands, right? and these MIDI PC commands should correspond with the MIDI Prg Chg#'s in the specific rigs that i want to use in the KPA?

Yes.In the command programming window you have to set a function "MIDI Command", MIDI #01 (btw), Cmd "PC#" and PC# to your programm change numer you set your sound in the KPA. But the utility "WIZARD programming the Kemper Profiler" have to work, too.

very strange. i completely redid the "WIZARD programming the kemper profiler" and just used the settings in that configuration. the rigs did change as i clicked on the individual preset buttons, but when i try to change rigs by using the preset up and preset down functions it doesn't work at all

Are you using the current version of KPA firmware? There is a feature that may help you there:

I don't know if it affects just the front panel of the KPA or also the response to a MIDI controller, but there is a Rig Autoload setting for Browse Mode that you can enable, to see if it changes anything. It is in the System Settings.

Do you have a MIDI interface for your computer? If so, there are freeware MIDI monitor programs that could confirm the LF is sending PC changes.

Or, do you currently have anything else that accepts MIDI PC changes to test it with?

Or, you could try switching the KPA to Performance Mode, with "Performance Autoload enabled. If the Up/Down buttons are sending PC changes, they should autoload Slot One of each Performance.

thanks again paults. i don't have a MIDI interface right now. i am, however, using 5 pin MIDI cables. this shouldn't effect anything though, right? the extra 2 pins for the LF12+ would only be for phantom power as far as i know

I think, it could be an override problem. Something tells the LF to stay at one preset.
