Has anyone come up with a successful or even passable attempt at using a guitar with an Analog Octaver and a bass profile? Trying to come up with creative ways to do some recording without having a bass and bass cabinet on hand.
Fake A Bass While Recording?

Sure : the octaver tracks well on single notes , it won't do miracles but it works on a mix. The best use I fount with it is to use a regular single coiled strat , it will sound like a precision / jazz bass depending on the PU.
I've uploaded a fairly good one times ago : I use it a lot on my mixes.

You can also use the Transpose Stomp Box for this. Put it in in slot A and dial in -12.

As has been said, use Transpose, not analogue octaver, which has more of a "character" rather than trying to faithfully shift an octave down.
If i were you, try transpose an octave down, then try shifting after the fact with your DAW and see which gives you better results. I'm sure either way will do for rough recordings.

Thanks guys. Is there a particular bass amp profile you recommend for doing this or do you just use a clean guitar amp profile?

There is a pretty good one in the factory rigs, I can't remember the name though. I can check later...

If you use the Pitch effect, you can use the Formant Shift parameter to adjust the resonance of the pitch shifted notes.

I like Gallien-Krueger 150B and 150C for bass, check them in RigManager on RigExchange.
