Mr Saturday Night Special

  • K, got this Gibson Les Paul Special Pro EX recently.

    Came with Burstbucker Pros.

Good pickups, stock. Meant to be a slightly edgier PAF type pickup

However in this guitar, it had a hard, almost harsh top end, I just didn't like. I liked BB Pros in my former Studio. But, though they sounded good, they were hard to dial-in and had that upper end stuff I didn't like.

I had been wanting to try out relative new comers in Seymour Duncan's line, since they came out (this year). They seemed exactly what the BB Pros were attempting, and perfect for this guitar. And I wanted to try some AL4 pups.

    From SD

They hit the spot and that spot. Neck is really great delivering than non boominess, non woolyness, nice and clear. And the Bridge is fatter, but sounds and responds like a fatter 50 PAF.

Perfect fit really for this guitar, and I think one of their better pups to date..

    So these
