Matrix GT1000 + 2x12 Cab...is it SAFE?

  • I purchased a 2x12 (16 ohm) cab to play with my Kemper.
Matrix GT1000 has 1000w at 8 Ohm and 650 Watts (at 16 ohm) coming out and the cab only 120 wats (2x V30 speakers) when Briged Mode selected.
I rehearsed yesterday with the Matrix full volume (1 channel 500 watts, not bridged) and Kemper at -10db and still it was not loud enough....but the lights in the Matrix were constantly blinking (that means that 25% of the full power was coming out from the Matrix.
25% of 500 is 125 Watts, which is a bit more than the cabinet can handle.
    But specs, say this:
    TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONSNumber of channels- 2
Watts per channel rms @ 4 ohms- 500Watts per channel
    rms @ 8 ohms- 325Watts per channel
    rms @ 16 ohms- 150 W (is this all I got????)

  • Are you splitting the 2x12 (assuming the cab can).? I.E. running 2 cables for stereo to the CAB. Just trying to understand why your not running bridged. Or, is it because your trying to keep the max output wattage down for the cab, thus running un-bridged, just 1 channel?

But, yes, if not running bridged, then those specs do say your getting 150w for each/both channels to a 16ohm load.
