Recommend slightly lower gain profiles to layer for heavy sounds

  • Hello all!

I want to quad track my heavy guitars to get a defined heavy sound, however I'm thinking is it better to layer lower gain profiles which when they come together give you the heaviness and clarity.

There's loads of excellent high gain ones out there which awesome in isolation but not if you quad track, and if you start lowering the gain you move away from the original profiles.

    Thanks in advance

  • Absolutely Chargrilled! Assuming you employ HPF and appropriate panning for your quad tracking productions as standard too ;) ?

Checkout GAME OF TONES packs: we're inspired by the greats and informed by the masters of heavy themselves, Killswitch Engage ;)!

Whilst we state we specialise in high gain this is still 100% suited to dual / quad tracking (just because it's hi gain doesn't meant it can't be layered -- the KPA seems to exaggerate gain almost (at least visually with the LEDs!) so don't be put off by the term...) for example our EVH STEALTH (with the filthiest gain imaginable) profiled with the Gain set to ONLY noon on both Blue & Red channels results in profiles with the KPA Gain LEDs pretty much maxed out! It all depends on the amp circuitry architecture too...

But yes we profile different amps & of course, channels that have different gain structures (and thus result in different Gain levels on the KPA - best seen in the RM view...) as well as free updates to follow. Our profiles are perfectly suited to layering using the method you suggest... Current soundcloud clips are all dual tracked to give you an idea and we'll be releasing some CHUNKY quad track clips soon! And they sound simply SUBLIME. :)
