Output questions about the Powered amp.

  • Helle everyone!

I'm new to this forum and I have a question about the Kemper powerrack in a live situation.

I will always use the main output section for the FOH.
When I'm not playing with in ear monitoring I will use my speakercabinet for stage and monitor sound.

But I'm playing a lot of gig with in ears. When playing in ear I will not bring my speakercabinet. In that case I want to use the monitor jack output for in ear sound.

Will the kemper be damaged if I'm not connecting a cabinet to the speaker output?
And still want to use use the monitor jack output.

Or do I have to turn off the poweramp section?
And if I do turn of the poweramp section, can I still use the monitor output?

Hope someone can answer my questions.

  • Hi LeroyC, welcome to the family.

The Powerrack has two monitor outs. The one from where you supply your cabinet (this output carries speaker-level) and the other one with line-level for feeding a separate Powerstage or -connected to the return slot - another guitar-amp.

When using your In-Ear-System you should use the second one and switch on your cab-simulation to "on" while the first mentioned output is unused. (don't worry about damages, the powerstage of the KPA is digital and not tube-driven, so there won't be any problems). As you can RITFM it's also possible to switch off the internal powerstage via the output-menu, though it's recommended just only to save energy.
When using a guitar-cab you can switch on the power-stage, boost the power amp and switch on the softknob "Cab off" in the output-menu, and, just have fun with your Profiler
