#16 EQ - AMP - EQ

  • What is a profile?
    Or a guitar amp?

    Basically it's something like this:

    Input - EQ - Distortion - EQ - Output

ok - add some power amp to get the volume we like - but this is all!

Yes, it's all - and all the world are searching for that magic amp or profile :)

Yes, each profile does nothing more than setting some values of the two EQ's and adjusting some parameter for the one 'amp model' available in the KPA to do some tube amp like distortion.

    That's it.

So why not 'improve' or 'change' the sound of existing profiles by using two additional EQ's - one in front of the amp block - and one after it.

The good news - no need to buy some hardware EQ's - simply use the ones in the KPA - so place an EQ block right before the amp (in slot D) and another one right after the amp (in slot X).

No spend some time changing EQ settings - after you learn something about all this you will have a lot of fun tweaking the KPA basic sound and get some great sounding rigs.

btw. the post EQ is exactly what a Mesa Mark amp does to get a huge sound out of a more flat amp (when used without the 5 band EQ).

The EQ block before the amp (or KPA) changed the kind of distortion a lot - more than the EQ after the amp (which is more a tone control)

    Enjoy!
