Kemper/Apogee Quartet/FOH

  • Hi,
I just bought a Kemper, I love it
What is the best way to connect the Kemper to my JBL monitors ?
I have my iMac connected to my Apogee Quartet (via USB of course)
I quickly connected the main XLR outs of the Kemper into 2 inputs of the
Quartet but perhaps it is better to connect it with spdif ?
The monitor out of the Kemper goes into the Yamaha DRX10
    Any thoughts ?
    Thanks
    Eric

  • I don't have an Apogee but looking at their website, Apogee Website you have six 1/4 inch balanced outputs. Connect to 1 & 2 and choose stereo from the drop down menu.

Choose +4db from the meter/slider output ...... "At the top you will see +4 dBu and if you click on it you will also see -10 dBV
Select + 4 when connecting Quartet’s outputs to a balanced Inputs, for instance most powered speakers and Power amps have balance inputs".

That way you can monitor and listen to playback from your DAW, (or any other app on your Mac)

I think most people prefer SPDIF for their interface connection from the Kemper to keep it all in the digital domain, it also allows you to use the XLR outputs for FOH.

  • The Quartet only has optical spdif and the Kemper only coax
Would it be best to use an optical/coax conversion box or go analog out from Kemper to the Quartet ?
    Thanks a lot !
