I just did a super quick profiling session at lunch time to get an idea of what profiling is all about. It's COOL! The only amp I have is a Roland Cube 30X and I can coax a decent clean JC120 and Blackface tone out of it. It also has a recording out so I decided to try that for "silent" profiling and it's way cool. I have a lot to learn (didn't understand the idea of a reference amp when profiling - I just used my AC30 clean patch to compare? I also named / saved the amp/cab incorrectly - changed that once they were normal rigs in the KPA. I noticed that my reference profile volume level had to be set to around -15dB or less, that was a little strange. I also think the more I do this, the more I will be able to find out what parts of the original tone get a little lost in translation, even with refinement. I also did some clips as compare so you can see the "real deal" vs. lightly tweaked end profiles. I barely had any time, but I think I could actually use these profiles! Maybe you can find them useful for some single note direct cleans, some funk driven stuff, etc...
Anyway, it's a pretty cool experience and now I'm REALLY starting to see the true power of this tool.
