Kemper Amp into Crimson Spl Interface - Help!!

Hi Guys!!

I need help, i have Kemper power head and SPL Crimson interface and till now i was using it through Kempers XLR output into my interface XLR input and signal was great BUT...
After 2 years the interface stoped giving me signals and i took to a lab, they told me that the XLR on the interface isent supposed to get so much power and i burned it completly...
Also told me to use Line out from the Kemper to Line in on my interface using guitar cables offcourse. i did it but the signal is too low, no matter what i do, i dont seem to get the right and load signal.

Have you raised the Volume in your Kemper's output section? There are quite a few options so reading the manual may be a good idea . The Kemper has quite a strong output therefore i doubt that you cannot get a solid input on your interface.

Also keep in mind that the line input on the crimson is balanced, while the 1/4" outputs on the kemper are unbalanced. That will cut your volume in half.

I need to check the kempers output references, ill try to do that now.
Do you guys use XLR output to your interface XLR input?
Why people keep telling me that XLR input on your interface cant handle the kemper and might damage it?

Some XLR inputs are not meant to handle line level. They are then usually labelled as mic-inputs. Might be the case with your Crimson.

Nope - I use the spdif connections - I believe the Crimson has this too?

What about signal quality?
I use to get great tune on the XLR input, does SPDIF connection gives the same quality as line and xlr inputs?

SPDIF has the best sound quality of all available outputs.

It's not signal, just data, so there's no degradation possible.S/PDIF = Sony/Philips Digital Interface Format

You must have smashed the input - it might be that you liked the sound of the overdriven preamp in the crimson. If so, you won't get the same over spdif. So you might need to find different profiles or tweak the ones you have. Mind you, that's not because the spdif connection is faulty - rather a result of abusing the gear

You could try to imitate that by using a channel strip or mixer strip plugin inside your DAW and by trying to crank that signal up to imitate an overdriven mic channel. Bad thing: That will not repair your Crimson Good thing: No further damage is to be expected

Thankx for your help guys!
i didnt solve the mystery yet but it seems like the low signal problem comes from the crimson itself and not the kemper.
I connected guitar directly to line in and the signal was still very low.
BTW - i allready fixed the crimson in a lab and everythings right.

Which is normal for a DI input.
