One the private forum Bruno said that:

A lot of people want to know more about it especially people (like me) who don't have a kemper yet and wanted to buy one soon.
My friend also talked about something like 120€..now let's wait for Kemper to confirm...if the amp really needs to go back to them for the upgrade it's no good..I guess techs can do it with instructions...So I'll be able to do it 
A retrofit would be madness,cant see it happening.
I don't see any discussion on whether Kemper are offering adding there new power amp to the existing units that were sold to all of us with out the power amp. Is this not going to be an option and they are not going to work out a solution for the 'old' units.
That is what retrofit means. Yes, it will be possible and they are busy sorting out the logistic of it (you'll not be able to do it yourself). It has been confirmed and how it works will be communicated as soon as finalized.

I think Delinquent refers to the fact that there seem to be several (at least two) kinds of KPAs when it comes to cavity size.
