I changed the ext of a backup file to RAR.
How do I make the RAR file a KPA Backup file again?
Question. RAR backup file?

.kpabackup

If it was a .bak just rename the extension again. Is that what you meant?

I've tried re naming it .bak and .kpabackup and it remains a RAR file.

compressed or uncompressed .rar?
If uncompressed, you have to rar all the data inside the root folder (not the root folder itself) and afterwards rename from .rar to kpabackup
-
You need to compress it as .tar, not .rar
Winrar and similar sw can unpack both, but the default packing format is .rar, need to change the destination file to .tarEdit: and once packed manually change the extension to .kpabackup

Thanks guys.
Davide - you solved it.
I had lost my "favourites", so I was looking to load my backup from a few weeks ago to get my favourites back.
A System reset wasn't getting my Favourites back, but, then I read your advice on another thread about a System Reset and putting in your name again, which I did,...got my favourites back, don't need the backup file any more.Just did another Backup...things are back to normal again.
