Of general interest to people in the modeling/profiling world:
Harley-Davidson failed to obtain a US trademark on the "signature sound" of its motorcycles, and that's the last time I've seen anyone try.
This has been discussed before. The problem is, what defines the sound of an amp? At which settings with which guitar? Could a lay person easily recognize the sound specific to an amp without seeing it? Of course not. Also kinda weird that a man which based his career building instruments heavily inspired y Gibson guitars would write such an article.

Indeed, I had to chuckle a bit.
What I don't get: What does he want to say actually? -
Yeah, that's my problem with the article too, he doesn't come out with a clear position. Best I can tell he seems to be hinting at vague disapproval of this use of the technology but acknowledges that theft of one kind or another is part of musical tradition.
