The user profiles have been outstanding and when I draw up my go to top 20 most will be user ones. Trouble is, it's addictive downloading and trying new ones. I'm giving up new profiles for Lent (along with marmalade and chocolate).

I, too, would like this.

Now that sheguitarist has both units, a good test of the axe fx's potential profiling ability would be to see how its IR capture facility works in generating impulse responses of the KPA's cab selection.
-
'Im no expert but maybe its because the amp 'sees' the cab and reacts to it as it usually would.'
I think that must be it. When I get some time to go to a studio to get mic'd amp profiles I'll also get some DI profiles done with no attenuation with a D1-1000 between amp and speaker.

Rig Exchange to hit 1000 by 1 April?

I would be interested to know how others are profiling direct. Are you connecting your load box to the speaker? If so are you attenuating? Are you going from load box with no speaker connected?
When I tried to use a direct out from the line out of my attenuator into my DAW with impulse responses I found (a) if I had no cab attached or a cab attached with full attenuation the resulting sound was a bit thin and had some fizz around the edges (b) The sound improved if I had the cab attached and had some sound going into the cab (d) the DI sound plus IR was best when there was no attenuation.
The DI profiles I have recently uploaded have been made with no cab attached to the attenuator.

So the first one was a Kemper. Although it sounds better, I think the aim of profiling is that we should get the same sound. I am finding this a bit difficult to achieve at the moment but maybe I am just an unrefined refiner and need to go to a studio so that I'm not in the room with my amp while A/B ing over headphones.
I have conducted a similar experiment, but with flacs rather than mp3s, in the thread on Rig and Profile Exchange "1958 Deluxe" dated 18 Feb.

Look forward to trying these. Don't worry about poisoning the well. The more the merrier and I think yours will be our first AC15.

For myself, I'm versus 'versus'.

Beyer M160. It was good enough for Hendrix so it's good enough for me.
-
First three seconds is better than the next three seconds. When are you going to let us know which was the KPA?
-
These are excellent profiles and should have gone in with the factory presets.
-
Glad you like it Don. It still sounds pretty authentic if you raise or lower the gain by about two points either way.
-
Regarding profiling accuracy of tube amps, I've posted some FLACS on my most recent 1958 Deluxe posting which give you 1. Guitar into amp. 2. Guitar into Kemper into amp. 3. KPA profile.

Re Scott's post. I was just going to post in the suggestions for the KPA a facility for profiling from an isolated guitar track. Wouldn't mind profiling the start of Neil Young's 'Ohio' or Television's 'See no Evil' or the Stones 'Brown Sugar'. I'll still email them with the suggestion. Maybe this will all be somewhat redundant when people successfully start editing profiles to get the sound of a guitar on a record (that dates me, note I don't say 'cd' or 'mp3') as I think Jon G has been trying to do with Led Zeppelin's 'The Ocean'. I think we've come a long way from the JHS 'Rockbox'.

Off to download that now. Sounds great.

Many attenuators have a line out eg Hotplate and Elemental (which I use). If you want a line out without an attenuator Behringer do a DI box (DI-100) which you put between amp and speaker, linking up with speaker cables, and which will give you an XLR line out signal. Cost is about £25.
I read on TGP that if you turn off the cab on the comparison Kemper amp then your resulting DI profile will all end up in the amp slot and won't be split over the amp and cab slots. I have been doing this with my recent DI profilings.

I'm finding I need three refining sessions to get there.

For the 'cork sniffers' among you. I've done another DI profile of it dimed at the Neil Young setting, volume and tone on 12 and mic volume up around ten. This time I've used a 5YR rectifier.

This has been posted up on the Rig Exchange with proper details and a sensible name.
This one has a cab added in from the mic'd up profile on the initial post of the thread.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/165052…9-53-07%20-%20IniTa3.kiprBtw I've tried the Axe Deluxe profile and that sounds really good if you use an appropriate Kemper cab. I wouldn't be surprised if Axe Fx guys start contacting Kemper guys and using their existing cab profiler to create impulses of the Kemper cabs.
A couple of more amps to profile and then I'm done.

At five on the bright channel. I think I've put a user cab on this but it was a DI profile with the cab section of the KPA turned off.
