using port A or port B on the KPP should yield same result in this situation.
Are you sure the MC6 is sending only one single PC at footpress? this can simply be verified by connecting the MC6 to a PC/Mac in stead of the KPP (using the same cable: USB-A to USB-c)
how do you observe? looking only at the frontpanel LEDs? or actually listening to the audible result? (on the Kemper audio always has priority!)
eeh: the USB A port on the player works fine <period>
maybe not when used in combination with that specific pedal.. so maybe the problem is with the pedal ? (and maybe the problem is with the KPP... of course)... but one cannot post bluntly 'the USB A port isn't working reliably' because that is pertinent not true.
OK, so it's the other way around: you actually have:
HX -> DIN -> USB I/F -> KPP
so: the USB I/F you're using seems to doesn't have an opto-coupler then
what kind of USB I/F is it? (model/brand/type)
would be interested in the exact model, so maybe we can try to reproduce the situation
if there is a buzz when connected through MIDI DIN, then the HX seems to lack a opto-coupler on it 's DIN MIDI input
again: how exactly are you testing?
I have the same exact problems with a unbranded midi footswitch. It works with everything, but when connected to the player, the player react slowly and is unstable.
is it a pure MIDI footswitch, or does it connect through USB-MIDI ? 'unbranded' makes it a bit hard to find problems unfortunately
how exactly do you interconnect the Player with the HX ?
hmm: the HX _should_ have a opto-coupler on it's MIDI input to stop a possible groundloop.
MIDI channel selection: will be available in the upcoming fw version
it can also be the configuration of the Chocolate (as it was used for other software already, the Chocolate is possibly no longer in factory default mode?)
a USBA <-> C cable can be any generic one... shouldn't be very critical... but has to have datalines connected (i.e. : not a charging-only cable)
"five different makes and models" --> which ones?
OK: now I'm confused: you say the MP-100 has only MIDI-OUT.. how do you connect that with only 1 MIDI cable to the KPP without a USB interface then? (like I asked before)
what I understand is the scenario which doesn't seem to work correctly for you is:
a) MP-100 <---- USB ----> KPP
the test scenario we would like to verify is:
b) MP-100 ----- MIDI OUT(DIN)-----> MIDI to USB adapter <-----USB----> KPP
questions:
in situation b) :
- still slowing down the KPP?
- what MIDI to USB adapter are you using? (brand/model/type)
- what is the MP-100 actually transmitting on it's MIDI-OUT? (connect the USB adapter to a PC/Mac, and monitor the MIDI messages)
what is the exact type/model/brand of USB stick you're using?
so: 2x USB connection, and the Mac mini as a 'conductor'/'router' ?
this should definitely work fine.
In this scenario the culprit most probably is the software / settings on the Mac itself.
what is the type / name / model / brand of the midi interface you're using?
hmm OK .. only one cable : so we can rule-out MIDI loop.
potential problems:
- the MIDI interface you're using is doing funny stuff (could you try another interface?)
- the controller is transmitting huge amounts of data (could you connect the controller with that USB interface to a computer and trace the data with a MIDI monitor?)
- which MIDI to USB adapter did you use?
- could you try to connect only 1 MIDI cable (from the controller to the KPP) to eliminate any possible MIDI feedback
this will be supported (our internal private beta version supports it already)
I have also a M-Vave Chocolate. But I was not able to use USB-B of the profiler. So at this moment the Chocolate is a backup for Airstep.
the M-Vave Chocolate acts as a USB-device, and not a host (to other USB devices) therefore it has to be connected to Kemper's 'A' port (=host) This is tested and works fine.
So: simply use the USB A-C cable, which is included with the Chocolate, and you're set.
