I only deleted some profiles I don't use very often.
I didn't think I needed to compress anything when saving the file. . . It didn't give me an option to do so when saving the file in Total Commander.

This happened when I tried to restore a backup file onto my kemper:
[Blocked Image: http://i42.tinypic.com/2pt305l.jpg]
This began when I was using Total Commander to erase some of the files on my kemper to load new ones later. When I tried to upload the modified backup after using the Total Commander software, this is the error I got.
Is there a way to get around this or maybe exclude Total Commander altogether to keep from getting this message?
Thanks!
Display MoreJanne,
SPDIF Out Link links the Master Volume knob on the front panel and the SPDIF volume. Nothing more.
Yes, there is a signal without a lock, but you do want to lock the interface to the Profiler.
good point about that, though.
spencerlogan, does the SPDIF not lock, or don't you get any signal at all?
No lock and no signal at all. . . I do get signal if I connect it by using alternatives to the SPDIF connection though.
Hi Don,
Yup, I realized that later that the SPDIF didn't have anything to do with 'locking the communication', it worked fine without it selected.
I changed the lock on the PRO 40 to SPDIF, but it didn't change a thing.
I guess that the KPA auto-locks to the SPDIF anyway.
Hasn't been the case with me.
could be a faulty cable,
did you try using another one?
just swapped the cable out and tried using multiple channels and it didn't work.
It's simply not connecting, whether it has to do with the cable, or focusrite software, I have no clue.
I was expecting that, but in my case it never locks back. It's super annoying.
are you sure it's a SPDIF cable and not just a RCA one?
yeah man. if it's not that I'm not sure what's up. I followed your instructions to the T.
Display Morenothing special to do really, but here it is:
Profiler SPDIF Out to Saffire SDPIF In
Profiler:
- 'Master' Section' Page 1/5: SPDIF Output: Master Stereo
- 'Master' Section' Page 5/5: SPDIF Volume to 0.0dB
Saffire Mix Console:
- set channel 9 to 'Inputs -> SPDIF 1.1' and channel 10 to 'Inputs -> SPDIF 1.2'
- click the stereo button in between channels 9 and 10
- set Sync Source (below channels 15 and 16) to SPDIF
that's it
Thanks Don, I have a feeling I have a cable issue because the damn thing still didn't lock with the sync source. . . In the mean time I suppose I'll be swapping out cables until it works? Thanks for the help everyone!
DonPeterson, Would you mind giving me a step by step tutorial on how you got yours working? I attempt to get mine to work always before running a sequencer proggie so I'm not sure whats up. . Also yes, I am using dedicated S/PDIF cables.
I'm using a saffire pro 40 so I think something in my interface is a little different compared to the saffire 24. . . I have all those settings except the saffire doesn't wish to lock with the kemper.
Also, I checked the master settings with the spdif volume. . . it was cranked. Still no connection for some reason.
I did, for some reason it's still not working.
Yes I'm using the right cables and it's set to the correct clock source. . I've been stumped on this issue for a while now.
I do have the appropriate settings going but unfortunately the software is not locking the pro 40 and the kemper together. . . I also made sure the spdif output in the kemper was on the correct setting. . . .
Could someone give me a step by step process of how they connect the kemper via spdif to the pro 40?
I'm having severe difficulty getting my kemper to talk to my saffire pro 40 via spdif. . . I've tried the manuals and everything possible, changing clock source, sample rate, swapping cables, etc and I have not been able to get it to work. . . Could someone with a pro 40 help me get this working via spdif by giving me a walkthrough of how they set it up? It would be much appreciated. Thanks!
