There is more than one reason to stop support for Windows 7. As long as we support it, we need to maintain our testing and development machines running that OS, and from January 2020 on, they will become vulnerable to any security breach that is discovered later on. Additionally, Windows 8 and above provide some internal improvements that sped up editor development, though they are not directly visible in the product. Rig Manager will still run on Windows 7 for quite some time, only without the editor. We won't actively prevent Rig Manager from running on Windows 7, but official support and testing will end January 2020 at the latest.

Circular knobs in a GUI haven't needed to be moved in a circular manner since the old days, in case you were referring to me as "some here". I've been using every kind of software since the beginning of software.

I won't offer any more suggestions, I promise.

Of course more suggestions are welcome. Regarding the linear/circular knob behavior: it might be that we offer that as an option in the final version, but linear will always be available and default.

Did the download of the new version succeed? Then you can find the new installer in your Downloads folder and start it from there. It is named something like Rig_Manager_2_1_61.msi.

The driver is simply not installed. You can use the Gerätemanager to install it by letting it look for drivers on your computer. Point it to the folder
    C:\Programme\Kemper Amps\Driver
Then it should install the driver. Alternatively, just run the Rig Manager installer again and choose "Repair".

The Autobackup folder is used by Rig Manager automatically. In case you upgraded Rig Manager, and there are significant changes in the database handling, Rig Manager will first create a backup automatically, so if something goes wrong, you can restore the state of the previous version.
Though we usually do not recommend this, you can try to get the following folder from your old hard drive and copy it to the same location on the new one:

    C:\Users\#yourusername#\AppData\Local\Kemper Amps\RigManager

Then you should have everything back in place. But remember to use the built-in backup function from time to time.

That is really strange because there is no 2.1.26 on our update server. The current release is 2.1.41. You might want to try downloading the 2.1.41 directly from
the download section on our website.

Problem and solution had been mentioned earlier in this thread. If you have a space in your Windows user name, then the automatic updater of Rig Manager doesn't work. This is a problem in all Windows versions. The solution is to download the latest version from our website. This version will accept spaces in user names and display future Rig Manager updates correctly.

When you say "frequently save", do you mean you press the Store button on the Profiler after editing the performance in Rig Manager? This is not recommended, all changes done in Rig Manager are automatically stored in the Profiler immediately. It could happen that the Profiler's edit buffer is not in sync with the stored performance (the one Rig Manager is working on), and if you press Store, then you will overwrite the changes made in Rig Manager.

If you don't want Rig Manager to nag you about updates, please open the Preferences window and switch off "Automatically check for software updates". If you still want to update Rig Manager while keeping an outdated operating system, you might want to try KB3004394, followed by KB3024777. But I haven't explicitly tried only installing those on a fresh W7 installation.
